New Sim Inspiration due to Loss of Previous Games

Aww, sorry your laptop died, but sounds like you're making the best of it. I hope your new computer works out for you. I actually get most of my inspiration for new Sims from here on the forum. I love doing challenges so I cruise that board a lot and threads for specific challenges there. Or sometimes I'll read a thread someone has posted about their gameplay and/or ideas for others and something will spark my interest.

I also like to watch Let's Plays on YT and those will sometimes inspire me for a new Sim/Save file as well. Sometimes I'll base a new Sim on a character in a book I've read too. But, challenges are what inspire me the most. :)

EDIT: BTW I too have a Native American Sim. His name is Noah Noonday and is from the Potawatomi tribe of the Ottawa Nation. He's based on the real Potawatomi Chief Noonday of Michigan fame. His first name was Noahquageshik or Nawquageezhig, but I shortened it for my character.

Noah is the founder of my Build Newcrest Challenge. In my mind I imagined that he had won a battle for ancestral land and is now working to build a community there. So far he has married Cassandra Goth and they have two children; Kewanee and Payson. :)

I got my inspiration for Angeni from my fantasy novel. Angeni is a "spirit" in wolf form, and Atohi is the surname of one of the main characters. So, after losing all of my saved games, I decided to follow my love of fantasy and created her. My previous sims were mainly white and based on myself using separate characteristics. Jessica Starling is a rather gothic sim who is creative and artistic. Then there is Eva Diamond is a complete nerd and a scientist. Then there is Lily Moonman who is married to Neville Moonman who are inspired by my liking of the Harry Potter series lol Hopefully Angeni will accomplish her life aspiration to be a Painter Extraordinaire.

The First is Briarwood, a Fictional town in the New England Region of America.
Founded in the August 1860, once a poor hamlet provincial town, now, thanks to my Founding Fathers, is one of the Largest Cities, and perceived to be a potential Threat to Boston, and even New York City, because of it's rapid development.
The Jordan Family, the main reason they came to America, was to begin a new life, Adam and Diane, at ages 21 and 18 respectively, with their combined... and recent liberated wealth... and their creative minds, they were prime investors in Building Briarwood. They are also werewolves.
Adam was an English noblemen with his two friends, Graham (a German) and Oliver (Irishman) were touring Europe in 1858 and at the end of their tour they were in Italy, despite the revolutions. Adam met Diane, a Duchess of Medici Blood, However the Fengári House betrothed their daughter to the Barbosa Family. By then Adam and Diane were having an Affair, on the night of her wedding in Paris, Diane murdered her husband{it was a full moon} as they got into bed, and syphoned their money into Adam's account, and by the next day they fled Europe.

The Montgomery Family, Graham and Helena, ages 25 and 23 are a Business family and began to stabilize a growing economy within the city. opening a few businesses of their own.

The Bourbon Family, Oliver 20 and Evelynn 18, they will work with the Montgomery House, Building a successful Farm, Winery, and Brewery in Briarwood, allowing them to be a self sustaining food source for the city, and supplying the outside nation as well.

The DuVale Family, after failing to seize power in France, Jacques and Regina, Ages 42 and 22 they joined their friends in America. Where Adam and the other Nobles appointed Jacques DuVale Governor of Briarwood. Jacques really wanted to be King of France, even though it is his Wife's Claim. Regina relinquished it when She learned of her husband's treachery. There life in Briarwood, Yes he was Governor, and he was good at leading Politically, but the power still remained with the Jordans. Regina's affair with a Daemon Incubi leads to her "death" new life as a vampire, her Ultimate death will come 100 years later in 1960, When the Dior Family returns to Briarwood.

The Navarro Family, is a Spanish/Italian family, Bishop Carlos Navarro is responsible for Building the dominating Cathedral of the Arch-Angels in Briarwood the Cathedral is a significant buildings in my storyline,

The Dior Family is the last "Noble" family to join the Briarwood Elite
When Léon Dior age 21, comes into the picture, and is taken under Adam & Graham's wing, and into Bruno's, Adam's oldest son, Bed. and growing their family's wealth. Léon Ultimately Betrays them by abandoning them during the Siege of Briarwood, during the Civil War. After He learns what Adam Jordan is a werewolf. Adam has him killed for the betrayal murdering his Son's Lover.
When Amara Dior, Leon's Younger sister, is 16 years old she learns of the true nature of her Brother's death, was murder, not a crazed wolf attack, and organizes a Raid on the Jordan family. She Kills, Bruno 23, Isabella 16, and Adam 42, and set's the Jordan Mansion on fire. While Diane and their youngest son Caleb escape.
Diane later dies of fatal wounds, leaving 13 year old Caleb alone and no one to help when he starts to shift.

for a few decades, Until 1900, the Dior Family remained at Large Until it was learned She murdered them.

And So the Vendetta against the Jordan and Dior family still rages on.

Caleb in 1985, 100 years from the Jordan House raid, is restored to his human form, thanks to his wife Roxanne's help (it's a Beauty and the beast tale) he goes by Caleb II, and tells that his "Grandfather" Caleb I, escaped north.

The Younger Generations of the Montgomery (still the Industry on the East Coast), Navarro (Now Governor of Briarwood), and Bourbon (still sells best Beer and wine in the nation) Houses embrace & support the Jordan Family's return.
The Jordans, rebuild their dynasty, and have six (werewolf) Sons. the Triplets, Aiden, Cain & Wren: the Twins: Orion & Zane, and the "oops We got drunk in Paris but don't regret it, baby": Tyron.

But thats only a small part of the story and half of the Origins of my inspiration.
There's not a character I create that doesn't serve a purpose to the plot. I think I manage about 150+ characters in the story.

Have you ever considered writing? Those are interesting stories. I miss Sims 3 Supernatural, hopefully they make one for Sims 4, but I write fantasy novels so I would want another game like that lol I am hoping to create a husband for Angeni when she decides to have children after she accomplishes her Painter Extraordinaire aspiration, or maybe another creative one like writing novels.

It is written, but it's more of a hobby, and the book is for my eyes only. Its an escape really. Only using the sims to see it come to life, I did want to do a let's play with the story, but I'm missing content. Oh well.

I find a cute guy, capture his soul, and put it into a sim.

Reign is like my favorite TV shows - I would love to recreate a lot of that show in a game, but it would have to be S2 for what I have planned. I'd love to explore more of the Medici line, and all kinds of things. Best recreation of Mary Queen of Scots yet!

Usually mine come from stories I've read from growing up on. Movies, TV shows.. ect. I tend to use certain archetypes over and over again because they appeal to me. Sometimes the characters are a composite or taken directly from my favorite stories and kind of expanded through some sort of fanfiction in my head and in the game.
Last night I was watching a movie.. and I suddenly wanted to make the male and female leads in that movie. So I opened the game on the side and just started working on it. I thought they would make good sims and I'd be able to expand their story later. It isn't unusual for me to be inspired in this manner.

Sorry to hear you could not move your old save to the new machine. But new ideas sound interesting, and sometimes a new beginning can be lots of fun.

I normally build a wide community, playing most houses in all my worlds. It gives variety, and i can play the kind of household I want. Some houses I don't even stop by for months. Because I focus a lot on community aspects, I often find new ideas and challenges that are sort of bigger than a single household. Would love to play a kingdom sometime, never really tried that :)

For me, I usually start with a main household that has an interesting backstory, as I play, and romance and/or friendships happen, I can add other households to my rotation. I like to have several households to play in rotation.
