This thread is used by new users to ask questions a lot, and there are a few experienced users who pop in to answer questions. What would you want to do differently with a new thread? Just to be a more obvious place to ask questions? Also have an updated list of tips/tricks/FAQs in the first post?
Edit: According to the first post in that thread, it was meant to be used for exactly what you are proposing:

To all of you who are new to The Sims: read, enjoy, and welcome to the party! You can also ask your gameplay questions in this thread - no question is too basic, we have all been there. No judgement here! :)
Perhaps the thread just needs to be renamed and pinned to make it clear that it is the place to ask questions?
I think this is it. The title seems more “how to” and doesn’t exactly indicate that it’s a place to ask questions. Of course members will need to be active there so they can get timely answers.
I have that thread bookmarked so I can help answer questions regularly, I'd suggest other experienced Simmers who like to help out do the same. Also, if it was pinned to the top then it would be easier to see when there are new posts.
I think a complied list of FAQs (and perhaps a thread of FAQs for each pack in the Pack Discussion section?) that is closed and updated regularly by staff would also be of use? It could be a case of "if you can't find your question here, then go ask in this thread and an experienced Simmer will help you out".
I'm happy to go through and help compile a list.
@Ellierosex Please don't be sorry! You've done nothing wrong and we are happy you're here. If you're struggling to find the right place to ask questions then that's a problem with the forum, not you!
