This is the place to discuss the New World Del Sol Valley coming with Get Famous. DSV appears to look a lot like Myshuno but also looks similar to Starlight Shores in TS3 Showtime with the palm trees. The nighttime shot of the LA inspired Del Sol Valley panorama was rather Cohen Brothers-esque. And so an opening narration ran through my head.I only mention it 'cause some- times there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause what's a hero? But sometimes there's a man... and I'm talkin' about the Dude here... sometimes there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place, he fits right in there. And that's the Dude, in Los Angeles. And even if he's a lazy man... and the Dude was certainly that. Quite possibly the laziest in Los Angeles County...which would place him high in the runnin' for laziest worldwide--but sometimes there's a man...sometimes there's a man.I may like this new world after all.

I think it looks beautiful! All of our worlds except for San Myshuno are pretty suburban or have a small town feel to them, so I'm really excited to have another city for my sims to live in. Personally, I don't mind if we don't have a beach and unless it's something like the Santa Monica Pier, I really don't think we'll get one. I'm mainly wondering about the lots. Hopefully, there'll be some sloped lots, because I would really like my sims to live in a split level house in the Pinnacles. Imagine making something like an infinity pool there

How big is this world? That last screenshot, the one at night, makes the world look huge. And in all the shots, it looks very dense, like there's so many buildings in it. I hope it doesn't cause too much lag on lower end computers.

The world will be broken up into neighbourhoods to prevent lag. I suspect that, like usual, lag is going to be largely a result of lot size and contents on the currently played lot.

I read on the announcement info post that it wasn't. How do you know?

I consider a city world to be like Myshuno and this world looks a lot like Myshuno lit up at night. I consider a world city even if the city is in the backdrop. It still has a city.

So you have no proof then. Got it.

The proof is the screenshots. It's a city. I mean LA is a city although it looks different from NYC. Doesn't change the fact that it's still a city. Same for cities like Edmonton in Canada. It doesn't have tons of highrises outside of downtown, but it's still a city.

I don't know why you guys keep comparing real cities to the Sims. In the game, its not a city world unless it has apartments like Bridgeport and San Myshuno.

That's what I was thinking. Did people seriously spend this much time arguing over something because they didn't understand what "city world" means in Sims terms ?

IMHO there are 4 sizes:
Tiny: MP and FH with 4-5 lots, 1 neighborhood
Small: selva (7) and Granite (6) but 2 neighborhoods
Medium: Newcrest (15- NOT 20 to the person above) and Brindleton Bay (16)
Large: Willow Creek and Oasis Springs (21 each) and Windenburg (23)

Sorry to get technical about this but that’s my opinion on how it should be broken down. I’m a builder and there is a difference to me how many lots and neighborhoods there are when it comes to making an *expansion* pack worth it.

Also interested in whether the new world will have smog.

I see one lot, it's sort of reddish, in center, all others look like backdrop to me. ETA: And are the clouds smog? ETA: Brown grass, :/ they have a water shortage and need some rain. :) ETA: Ispy cruiser on the highway, guess that fake car is new? Glad to see they have added some other type vehicles to the game's generated traffic.

Doesn't change the fact that's it's a city, even if it's just giving the illusion of a city with the backdrops and stuff. Besides you could imagine some of the buildings in the background are fake apartment buildings or you could just create or download an apartment block of the gallery. It won't function as an apartment in San myshuno but at least in the name it's an apartment.

Nope. It's not a city world. I shouldn't have to "imagine" anything. It doesn't have apartments, then it doesn't count.

Calling it 'big' doesn't tell me how many lots it has. Just that perhaps there's a lot of room to walk your dogs around in.

I really like the Sim in the trailer (Vanessa?). She'll definitely be future spouse material for one of my heirs. :#
