Non-Flirty Sims

My non-flirty sim got upset when she saw her children hugging

Yebb. I had to have Darling Walsh do an 'awkward hug', chosen from the friendly category, to her female roomate (the pink and blue girl, whose I can't for the life of me remember the name off). I really like Darling so I am thinking of when she grows up to have her grow OUT of that unflirty 'stage' of hers :wink:

But to be honest I am seriously considering treating Sims with the unflirty trait as asexual Sims and leave them single or partner them up with other unflirties UNLESS they get a whim to do otherwise.

My sim has the non-flirty trait and it is kind of driving me nuts. I had another sim do a friendly hug on him and he got upset. He also got offended when witnessing public hugging/kissing.

I thought the friendly hug thing was a little overboard. How do you have romantic relationships with these people? They are impossible. I would have thought that you would have to be friends before making romantic advances on this type of person, but that doesn't seem to do any good.

Let me make it clear. I'm not necessarily complaining about the tense mood that occurs after flirting because that is realistic.

My Sim dated an Unflirty Sim for a while, and I also had that Hold Your Horses moodlet when he tried to hug her. I thought it was my Sim sneaking in a romantic interaction when I wasn't looking, as he often does, causing that moodlet, but apparently he really contained himself this time... huh. Anyway, there was this weird thing where she'd often show up in a Flirty mood at his house - no idea why, because her traits are Unflirty, Loner and Dog Lover and my Sim has no romantic decor whatsoever. But that made it very easy to nonetheless pursue a relationship with her. From my experience, having a romantic relationship with a non-played Unflirty Sims is hardly noticeable and not an issue at all. But I have never actually played Unflirty Sims, so it might be very different in such a case.

I do have some unflirty tendencies in real life and I would say that if some stranger flirted with me, I would not appreciate it. But if a friend or some well known person flirted with me, I would be much more receptive to it.

I was experimenting with the game a little, and it doesn't seem to follow that logic.

It might have to do with the fact that the game doesn't really recognise the difference between the friendly "hug" and the romantic "embrace". At least, you can fulfil whims related to one of those actions by doing either of them, not specifically the one mentioned. Now I have no idea how this works code-wise, but gameplay wise they're somewhat interchangeable, even if "hug" doesn't build romantic relationships.

As an unflirty person in real life, I often have trouble telling if someone is flirting with me or not, and I've been told a few times that I sometimes flirt with people without even realising it (or rather, I unwittingly do stuff that others might misread as flirting). This has made me self-conscious in that regard, because obviously I don't want people to think I'm flirting when I'm really not, and so I also avoid any kind of physical contact that might be misinterpreted. Maybe that's what the developers had in mind when they made this trait? It makes sense to me at least, and I do appreciate that my simself reflects the real me so well.

As a side note, I'm actually trying to hook my simself up with someone at the moment, and since I'm not only unflirty, but also a loner, I have no idea if that's even possible. :D But I'm looking forward to the challenge!
