Nothing Like Getting Kicked Back to the Bugs

I'll explain. After the big August patch, I had to do some very serious weeding out of my save. This save has been ongoing since last summer, which I started while awaiting the transfer to the new forums. Yeah, it's on the old side, I admit. But I do a Save As . . . at the start of every gaming session, without fail, so I can do a save recovery, if need be, or just roll back before some kind of bug made it wonky.

Yes, I do use mods. Yes, so far, they all checked out, including the cc. Rock Star needs clothes, you know.

I finally managed to address the Sim drags the baby and/or toddler between their legs as they walk. Or baby is just clinging to the Sims' side, not really being held. Other little niggling things were resolved, too. I was on top of the world, for a nanosecond. Started to play my game, picking up where I'd left off prior to the patch, and was able to write up a nice update.

Suddenly, the Home page of the game displaying the last family you'd played, showed one of my Sims in duplicate. A sure sign of save corruption. Again, for a nanosecond I was able to remove the doppelgänger, only for it to come springing right back. I followed steps to right the ship, so to speak, and it worked for a moment and a half.

OOFFDDAA

I have created a game folder refresh, started a new save . . .

Then I purchased Adventure Awaits, and I was required to update again. Why? I was fully up-to-date, or so I thought. In the course of the gameplay, I discovered that my Global Superstar no longer had his Fame Point perks. They were all grayed out or X-ed out, can't fully recall at the moment, but the point being is they're gone.

I did some research to see how on earth these could be restored, and the PC cheat didn't work, so I decided to scroll through the prior saves to find at which moment in time, he still had them. And I searched and I searched, and I searched. Yeah, I was on save #120. My Sims, three of them had just celebrated their birthdays, and Christmas, too.  One of my teen Sims who is almost a Global Superstar is beginning to have serious doubts as to if he even wishes to continue this career. Exciting stuff about which to write.

How far back did I have to scroll? The last time he still had his Fame Perks was in save #43. The year in my game 2284 is winding down, which means my Rock Star just completed his Second Clean Sweep. (In the more contemporary save, he's heading into 2287, having completed his Fourth Clean Sweep. Yeah.)

I know I said I wouldn't restart this family again. But, if I go with the uncorrupted save I found, it's not totally starting over, it's just stepping through a time-portal . . .) Three of the kids are born, the twins and Melodie. Oh, help me please.

  • I agree with Ellupelluellu's suggestion. Problem solved and no need to start over yet again.

I last used UI Cheats to demote my sim when the game mistakenly promoted her by two career levels. It's a very dependable mod, always updated within a day after updates.

There was  a small Plopsy bug update released Thursday. I posted about it in your Still Undecided thread.

  • Perhaps I need instructions on just how to use UI Extension mod, but I cannot find the way to give Erik the needed Fame Points to restore his Fame Perks.

Ah, I was assured by a modder the patch didn't disturb any mods. Perhaps, my save is just too old? I may try one more thing. I'll start for a third time most recently by doing a game folder refresh and then I'll transfer saves to the brand new saves folder, so it's almost like starting anew. I'd bang my head on the desk, but since my brain injury, I just can't bring myself to really use that phrase much anymore. And if I tear any more hair out of my head --- I could end up bald! Many thanks for the suggestion, though, Ladies.

You don't need fame points. Right clicking on the perk gives you the option to unlock it.

  • YAY, I took a moment to skim through an article or two on just how to use this mod, and something stood out to me. Right click on Perk to restore it or remove it. Ha-HA. It worked. My Sims just finished up Kayeleigh's birthday party and will be scooting off to Church for Midnight services. Yes, yes, YES. Thank you so very much. The only gratification I had with the earlier save is that I could have my horses mate and then freely move the family to Brindleton Bay . . . Oh, well. I did finally find the Move Sim command on MCCC. It was under Maintain Sim. The route I was given lacked a step. Stumbled across it myself. I think I'm going to close up shop for tonight, though. I will tackle things again tomorrow.

HUGZ to both of you Ellupelluellu and simgirl1010
