I just need two more fish for this challenge I'm doing and this game is going out of it's way to make sure NOT to let me get them with nonsense like this.
Girl is level 10 fishing. How much more skill do they want her to have? This game gets on my nerves sometimes lol
When that kind of stuff happens to me, I always think, "Oh, those sims!" and then chuckle. 😉
I got the wolf eel out of the very last fishing spot in the jungle. I have only seen 2 areas in the jungle that I could fish at. Even those don't seem to be through the same gate. The jungle map seems different everytime we go there. I have 1 gate that I have not gone in yet. The game keeps it "unavailable" . I got a sturgeon (rare), out of the lake next to hermits house and in the cold fall which was quickly freezing over before my eyes! That was a surprise! The fishing career, is in the Island Living EP. EDIT: You can fish in Sulani from a boat only. no one can fish from the shore yet, it's broken. 😒 some hints that may help. be "focused" while fishing. to get the rare gummie guppy be "playful" when fishing. Carl's sims 4 guide has an awesome fighing guide too. Also, there is a lot trait from Sulani that will improve fishing too.
And that's what I mean. I've had newbies catch Wolf Eels with no effort AND not bait. Same with the Red-Tailed Black Shark. But the moment I make it an aspiration, they become the most elusive fish to catch. Sometimes I couldn't even find the bait. LOL. Keep at it. One day your sim will be fishing in their backyard and catch them both! 😉
I love the way the game increases the challenges as you get closer to completing the goals. That freaky weather is probably happening because that's where your final fish are. That's crazy work completing 20 collections in 1 family! I think I'm going to try that in my next game!

I have to admit that I'm always a bit confused when people say that the fishing is bugged in Sulani, as I never have trouble fishing when one of my sims is visiting there.
I set up a vacation rental on Key Point, the empty island, and always have my sims fish off the beach when visiting there, as well as other fishing spots in the various neighborhoods. Granted, I only have them pole fish, rather than use the fish traps or deep sea fishing, so not sure if those latter two are what's bugged. Maybe the fishing bug is reacting to a mod or cc of some type? 🤔
GameGirl2168a I voted on the bug thread on the old forum site, which I assume counts since they show over 1100 me too's from the archived thread due to the move here. 🙅♀️ I've never had cc or mod and never will, in my game. 😁 I absolutely love fishing (irl # 1 hobby!) and have fished from every location in my game! I just never tried to get the entire collection until recently.... 😄 Not being able to pole fish in Sulani might be a problem since the fish I need are from having Sulani. I have not giving up on boat fishing tho! I actually enjoy that more! 🤩
Careful, I have discovered this game often is prone to throw the player a bit of a Curve Ball, as it were.
I've been catching a decent number of Wolf Eel this week, in Foundry Cove (Willow Creek) - the best spot in that neighbourhood is the sparkly fishing place near the magic tree, but I caught some at the other two fishing places too. As far as I can tell they'll only bite for frogs, and since it says more valuable bait is better I had my household breed up a big stack of whirlyflower frogs. Once you've got two of the same frog to breed more, whirlyflowers are no more effort to breed than leaf frogs, and if you end up with more than you need, the leftover frogs sell for a lot more!
Using a club vibe of focused does seem to help too. Focused sims are supposed to do better at fishing, and the club vibe doesn't wear off after a few hours like anything else you can use to make them focused.
