I do miss the tail, but the animation for the tail would have taken resources from the pack that was used on something else.
I am sure they explored the option, they probably couldn't fix the tail, meaning it probably looked too funny sticking out of certain clothing items and updating too many cas assets would have cost the pack, or the animation for the tail to wag, and/or rest next to a seated sim on a sofa, might have cost us the telescopes, the howling toddler and the leaning animation
So I guess I'm okay without the tail because I'm really happy about the other things
