[Opinions] Life States and Temporary States

Although I am not against making more life states; I think I rather improving upon what we already have. Add the missing skill trees for the applicable occults, turning PlantSims into an occult, and I'd love the idea of non-buggy/working occult hybrid combos. Also having more cross-pack compatibility for existing occults would be very much wanted too.

The only real life states I NEED are Genie, but I also liked Zombies which I know was an unpopular opinion.  Raising sims as zombies made me feel like an evil master mind, that's why I enjoyed it.  

But uh yeah, Mermaids for sure need an overhaul, they're incredibly boring. I'd also like to see the Werewolf and Fairy technology added to their tails so we can actually paint them and make custom tails.  Mermaids have a ton of lore they could drive from with split paths. The Path of the siren to use your voice and weather/element manipulation to conjure storms, lightning strikes etc,  and a benelovent mermaid who can use her powers to put out fires and help.  

Essentially the plumbob mod expanded mermaids is what I want.  

Plant sims hopefully will get a refresh soon.

We always need more, imo. They offer new, fun and creative forms of gameplay, and they're great for stories. I think they should prioritize making new ones, but I'd die for them to refresh the older occults.

Servos, witches, mermaids and especially PlantSims and unicorns desperately need an overhaul. Witches have too few spells and the potions are almost entirely useless. Mermaids aged poorly, though I don't think a full skill tree is strictly necessary for them. Servos don't have much going for them. PlantSims are completely inferior to past iterations of them, so they're not fun to play. I don't care about aliens, I prefer fantasy. 

As for life states, dragons (as pets) and genies are my must-haves now, followed by zombies. Imaginary friends were deceptively fun and cute. I liked mummies, but they could be combined with zombies tbh.

Totally need Genies & Permanent Plantsims.  Also, the poor Aliens & Mermaids needs a Powerbook.

Now that we're getting fairies, I'm mostly satisfied. I do want permanent Plant Sims though, better mermaids, and unicorns.

I'm actually satisfied with aliens as they are, but I would love to have Sixam be a livable neighborhood.

I agree with the others that the Plant Sims, mermaids, and aliens need to be improved. I loved the mummies in Sims 3 and would buy an expansion pack (or even a gamepack as they do a great job with occults in them!) based on Sims 3's World Adventure. I would eventually like all of the worlds, but love to have Egypt with the tombs and mummies like in Sims 3! My sims need more adventures, especially with archeology (Jungle Adventure) in the game! Dragons would be awesome as well. I enjoyed the genie and didn't mind the zombies, but a pack like Egypt from Sims4 would be my top request.

I think a few of the "Missing" life states are not really...uh... a great look. Mummies and Genies were a bit questionable even in Sims 3 times, which really wasnt even that long ago. Their depictions feel insensitive at best. Like, I get that mummies are an old school movie monster, but directly combining that concept with actual egyptian burial grounds that you were actively desecrating is pretty wild, even if the game's storyline does imply (or outright state?) that the tombs are all tourist traps and everybody's "in on it".

I think Skeletons should be permanent. You should be able to adopt a skeleton from Jungle Adventure and take them home with you. They would basically not need to eat or pee but the downside would be that they can't do more physical activities, can't swim, and maybe overall learn skills slower since they don't have brains lmao

I think we need more "minor occults". I don't think every occult NEEDS a perk tree and all sorts of features. I don't need a skeleton perk tree. I just want a goofy bone guy walking around my house playing xylophone on himself and trying to eat his favorite dessert only for it to plop onto the floor.

Also, my hot take is I'd rather Spellcasters get overhauled before Mermaids. Spellcasters and their spells and the balance of their potions are just a mess, and they're just kind of boring to play.

As other have said, I agree that making improvements to life states already in the game should be a priority over adding more at this point in time. Permanent plantsims with many more abilities and a skill tree would be wonderful, since they would really fit in with the upcoming nature-themed world. Genies could also potentially be fun if there was more to them than in previous Sims games. The existing life states that don't have a skill tree, most notably aliens and mermaids, definitely would be a lot more enjoyable if they did.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I really wish EA would go back and fix the buggy content added in previous packs. If that actually happened, I might consider purchasing some of those packs. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like more bugs are being added to the game with every expansion than are being fixed.

I must say dragons and updates to existing occult content are mainly on my wishlist when it comes to occults now :)

maybe some additional magical activities for all the occults to take part in would also be lovely (really missed show magic with RoM for example and technically you do not need to be specific occult to perform that y know)

but overall more so about quality than quantity really at this point

Then again would not mind some fun special NPC types where it fits like yeah if we ever get Egypt style pack it must contain mummy or two and if I am summoned to sail the seas it would be nice to say hi to kraken 😇

I agree with the comment about keeping some occults minor too like yeah funny bone guy isn't really as funny if I need to level him up before he can play xylophone with his bones and also meanwhile I enjoy funny bone guy I don't feel like he needs terrible amount of customization like sure he could have strange bone structure, or maybe a hat? but like my guys good just the way he is and I'm sure he can eventually find his way into Hildas chest cavity even if he is bit basic

Skill trees seem to have become a fixed formula for a well developed occult. It gives a purpose to level up and occults can be given unique characteristics so not all of them are exactly the same. If EA finds another formula to achieve these two aspects , I am willing to try something new. 

My biggest wishes for occults 

• permanent plantsims. Plantsims should remain plantsims when rotating away. 
• Pet dragons. Preferably like mini goats and mini sheep and chickens. Mobile and able to walk around without taking up a household slot
• Updates for toddlers and children to actually be the occult they should be. A practice magic and a few child spells for young spellcaster, a mermaid tail for all ages and fairy wings for all ages (so far missing in the trailer)  
• Genie occult lifestate
• Unicorns with some special aura or magic, not just a pretty but meaningless accessory
