Placing pre-existing build on half-water lot?

I'm not sure if anyone has answered this, but I'm wondering if you place a build on one of the half land/half water lots, does the lot automatically lay down terrain and the remaining water is used?

I have a house I'd love to place in Sulani but it has a small backyard that I think runs into the water.

    One of the gamechangers said that she didn't think you could build basements on a beachfront lot, so any house with a basement would probably not work.

    Hmm, guess that cancels out the one 50x50 haha. The house I have is on a 40x40 from Brindleton Bay so I guess it'd have to go on the other 50x50 if I move.

    You could always delete the basement in another neighbourhood, save the house and then move it. I think it makes sense, if true. I've never seen or stayed in a beach house or summer cottage that had a basement, plus the stilted foundations make it look impossible.

    That's right, pools won't work either. I suppose it's ok if it's above ground floor though.

    Thanks all! Since my house is a legacy/main save house I can't remove the basement but I'll try placing on the regular 50x50 instead--that island looks really pretty anyway and I believe as long as I don't have a volcano lot trait active I'll be safe :mrgreen:

    I once placed a lot with basements on a penthouse and I was able to do that, the basement will automatically not be placed on the lot.

    Also terrain tools won't work on those lots that incorporate water because the devs didn't want the animation of the sims interacting in the water to get messed up.
