Please don't add horses to a Farming EP

I'd rather see horses/Pegasus, uinicorn, & centaur get their own horsey pack with stick horsey for kids. Miniature horses that never grow. With all the horse breeds, racing, and actions, it could easily have a game pack by itself.

I want Farming to be fleshed out with machines and real work. If there isn't a buggy/carriage or plow, then horses really don't have anything to do with farming. With farm animals that you get supplies from, things you can do with those supplies(making stuff), fences- electric/barbwire/board with x/falling down stick fence, harvestables, rag dolly, antiques, machines, sprinklers, pre-made barn/build/buy barn parts with spaces you can put supplies or stack till there's no more room. Hopefully not inflated with CAS to the point of limiting the stuff I just mentioned. B) :p <3
  • I'm pretty neutral about it, but if they do add animals, I would hope they would be cows, pigs, etc., that could be sold or slaughtered for meat (in a very, very, rated E way) so that recipes that require meat can be cheaper (kinda like how using your own vegetables makes plates of food cheaper).
  • I wouldn't mind also if farm animals were "tied" to an object as long as they are functional enough to produce milk, eggs ect.. and have interactions with. I'd rather they not take up a house slot if possible and I would think a more free ranging animal would... such as a horse.
  • Well, it looks like farming could potentially be the theme of the next pack with the recent teaser that came out. It showed a scarecrow.

^ Scarecrow doesn't per say means 'farming'. It could still be Seasons or some other iteration. Farming/gardening was a big part of the previous Seasons installments.

Possibly, but scarecrows are used in farming, but I also agree agree it could be a Seasons pack with farming in it.

I agree. In a farming pack, I would like them to go all out adding farming in the ways you suggested, and expanded gardening, rather than add horses.

I also think horses shouldn’t be a priority with TS4. Sure, you’d be able to care for them as you could a cat/dog, but where would you ride it? From one side of your tiny lot to the other? Or a public area a few feet away? TS3’s transportation system made horses worth making.

I'm not a huge horse fan and didn't really mess with them in S3 and I played/play that games extensively. One turn off was how hard it was to get a unicorn without cheating. I never thought about how limited they would be because of the changing screens. That is a good point. Until they fix that in some way like with cars, then I don't see much use in getting horses. I can't see them giving us an old pull plow, but if they did, horses, donkeys, or oxen would be what would've pulled it. I just would rather a Farming EP be limited to farming only, not a old time CAS/build buy/horses/bloated with just anything EP. Equipment, animals, and a farming career with perhaps canning would stay true to the idea of farming.

If they give us farming, please give us a world with large lots, no 20x30 lots, PLEASE!

I would love to have small off the grid kind of farms. For a small family that just likes that kind of lifestyle. It should be a good mix of both, a bigger amount of big lots but also some small ones for different type of playstyles.
It should always be about options.

I think both should be present and maybe a middle ground. A few of the largest lots possible, a few medium sized lots and the rest of the hood consisting of small lots & a largest lot Farmer's market to buy/sell animals & supplies. I hate poof. I loved the potion shop and Graham's Pet store.

Obviously, one couldn't have a farm, family, and pets if they all added to the count & I was very disappointed in S4 Cats&Dogs added to the count for it robs simmers of the experience to have large families that have many pets. One way to fix this in S3 was to buy more than one lot beside each other and just go over to your farm. Screens, kind of take away from though. I liked S3 farm animals, because we wouldn't have gotten any if it hadn't been for them. I would hope animals could free roam on our lots and be put in fences. They do this in games like the farming simulators and Happy Acres on Facebook, so hopefully it is possible. If not, another way would be to have them as Dannydanbo said above and perhaps make large pens and the ability to add more than one of a kind to it kind of like the fish tank. I'd rather have free roaming though.

The scare crows could have double use in Halloween and farming. :) The farming poll and the over 23,000 response toward it and the response that the data would be used in the future is very reassuring that we are getting some type of farm/farm animals in the future.
  • I don't care about horses, animals (chickens maybe), machines... I want the crops WITH off the grid living. Animals can come later. Off the grid with crops. Do eet!

Horses have more to do with farming than scarecrows do.

Horses are used for checking fences, and checking on stock, they're used for rounding up stock, and droving them to new fields or to market.
