Please Save my Sim!?! [I got super lucky]

I started a new save. I answered the Create a Story questions (even wrote them down on some paper for reference...)
Then I tweaked and dressed and named a new Sim. Yes, the computer was left idle at times, yes it took ages.

Unfortunately for me, upon trying to share this new Sim to the Gallery and therefore simultaneously save to my library and launch the new game the program has gotten profoundly STUCK. The save to library window has a little starburst rolling around and around and around. But that is all.

Is there a way to save my Sim? I'm scared that force closing the stalled game will lose my new darling.

I even tried turning off the wifi and restarting the internet, taking the EA App offline, and checking the online gallery in case it has somehow saved anyway... :(

  • Okay, I got super lucky. Real world errands and waiting (and hoping) for a reply later, I tried a second google on the issue.
Also confirmed that Madison had not at that time saved to the Gallery and that my game was indeed still stuck.

Upon using Alt+F4 to exit the game (which assured me that the game was in a state where saving was not possible...) I deleted the cache and repaired the game to happily discover that Madison Ford had saved to my local library!! Apparently the stall must have occurred during the upload to the internet. So, yeah, I'm happy Maidson survived!! :)
  • It is so frustrating not to be able to save while in CAS! I am so glad that Madison survived!
  • Glad you saved Madison!

I'm always worried about CAS freezing while im creating sims (I think it happened once), so I save to My Library ever so often as I'm creating a sim (it takes me a while to make sims) once I've finished them, I delete all but one copy. (I don't upload my sims to the gallery partly because I use so much cc)
  • That's good you saved her reminds me of when that happened with a build that was taking me a while, my simmer soul was very displeased, I wish you could save in cas but I am still happy you can save in build mode cause I never upload anything anymore unless it is saved to library or something.
  • You can save your sim to your own library while you are still working on them, as long as you give them a name and traits (you can still change their traits after that as long as you don't exit). I do this all the time. If the game crashes while still in CAS, I can grab the sim from my library when I restart and continue working on them. I have also used this when I didn't have time to finish working them (needing to go do chores or go to work etc.) And I always save the completed household to my library independently before I do the "save and exit" just in case something goes wrong. If you don't want the incomplete or extra copies in your library, you can just delete them later.

EDIT - JUst realized that @MrPlumbob also mentioned this. I should have read more carefully. But this really does work. Just periodically save your household to your own library, and then later when you are done and they are safely in their home, you can delete the unfinished versions and just keep the most recent as backup.
  • So glad the fortune fell your way. There is nothing more frustrating than losing either a Sim, an entire family, or the build you just spent hours making.
  • I've had this happen to me once or twice. I've also had the Gallery freeze/lag when uploading a build. It's frustrating. Thankfully you can save while building, which I do often when building. I'm glad everything worked out for you.
