I’ve been away with the fairies for so long, I hardly know where to begin -or even what to say anymore. Being from Innisgreen-ish, I’m far too superstitious to ever say a bad word about the wee folk. So the positive thread it is! 😇
I can’t promise I’ll buy the pack right away, but whenever I play TS4, I’m usually drawn to nature-focused gameplay (check) and occults (check). Anything that adds to the off-the-grid lifestyle is a win in my book. Honestly, as long as there’s no phone or computer in sight this creature is content. I love that nature-loving Sims can just drift off to sleep on any aul’ patch of outdoor ground provided that they don’t accidentally nod off near a pack of grumbly werebeasts. Actually I wouldn't mind.
Now, I know the apothecary skill is basically a glorified herbalism skill -let’s be fair(y) – but that doesn’t bother me a bit, especially since we’re diving into fairy territory here. Hopefully it’s well implemented…we’ll just have to wait and sídhe. Personally, I’m really glad this skill is tied to this particular pack. It makes sense, given that the inspiration is largely Irish folklore / Ireland (I assume that’s what it is from what I’ve gathered: a Giant’s Causeway, colourful wee coastal town called Adhmore -Ádh mór is Irish for Good luck- friggin' clovers, FAIRIES) aye that's yer Themepark Ireland right there...
Anyways, herbal healing is deeply rooted in that tradition and practiced by the Doctúir na Síofraí (Fairy Doctor), more commonly known as the Bean Feasa or wise woman. She'd be working with the fairies. She'd know all the gossip.
I have a wise woman in my game – Biddy Bean Feasa, named after Biddy Early, one of Ireland’s legendary healers. I’m a bit of a folklore enthusiast, hence the nerd-out. I once had to send poor Biddy off to Granite Falls to gather a bunch of stink bugs and dust spirits,…for what?! A sneeze? She would have been better off buying a pack of antihistamines and be done with it. Let’s be brutaly honest, bugs never screamed “herbal” to me. Great for freaky witches, not so much for wise women. I do like that GP though... She’ll finally be able to connect with the wee folk properly now, good aul’ Biddy.
As for the visuals – I’ve noticed a lot of bright pink Tinkerbellas and Tinkerfellas -types floating about, good grief, which I assume is just to hook a wider audience (probably the Barbie Dreamhouse fanatics among others), but I’ve also spotted some tiny horns, feathered wings, and more shadowy designs, which I’m more into 😈. I’ll be making a Reaper Fairy if that’s even possible -still haven’t had a chance to play with the L&D career- if we’re given the tools to make proper mischievous fairy folk, I think I can definitely work with this.
Build/Buy looks stunning as is often the case these days. I’m especially intrigued by that earthy, hobbit-style home – makes me wonder if it’s part of a new build tool coming in the update?! My little folk of the mounds would definitely want one. Maybe next year after I’ve finished all my other builds...😬
I won't keep ye I won't keep ye.
I’ll leave you with a gem from my aul’ pal William Butler Yeats -one of my all-time favourites:
The Lake Isle of Innisfree
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

Yes! That's an amazing idea.
