Premade Sims doing service roles.

• Play the household that you don't want them to be NPC once.
  • Just play the live mode of that household and exit. They won't be picked until you untick the "Played" icon in the household menu.
  • This method is also useful to get rid of them from the list of available restaurant/retail/vet employees.

I will have to use this method, as I want to keep Get Famous EP enabled. So I would have to go to each household and play in Live Mode? And they would  have to remain as played households?  I'm trying to understand. Sorry. 

You're welcome, Goodywood ! I rush to reply to your topic because I understand this suffering and researched about it for a long time.

It's hard to decide between keeping Get Famous or not. There are pros and cons to both choices depending on the playstyle. But I chose to disable Get Famous because I also annoy the fame system and celebrities' fans. lol

If you choose to activate Get Famous EP, just go to make premade households (who live in a lot) that you don't want to be NPC "played".

However, avoid doing this on a household that already is an NPC (ex. Scott family, because Sara will lose the bar owner role). Only do the "played" method for the family you have sure that it's safe to do. (unless you don't care about premades' lore and role)

My last advice is to back up the save files occasionally to be able to step back when something is wrong. (ex. Sims losing their preset NPC roles.)

Goodywood They would remain as played households forever unless you unticked the dark green icon.

I went to the game and made an example for you.

As I didn't want Vlad to be assigned to any NPC role. I went to enter his lot to make him "played". You didn't have to play him even a minute. Just exit the map after that. Now Vlad is excluded from being an NPC while he's unemployed.

It works for every household if you do this. They will only appear as an NPCs in the background character roles such as walkbys.

Another solution... if you have some headcanon about them having careers. You can play them, and join the career. Employed sims will be excluded from the NPC role as well.

(I let Eliza Pancakes be a freelance artist for example. Freelance is the best way to give them a job without having career uniform.)

***Part-Time careers don't count.

----Reminder, avoid playing these households if you don't want them to lose important roles...

1. "Scott Family" from Henford-on-Bagley
2. "Sienna and Flabjack" from Chestnut Ridge
3. Also avoid adding "Currently not in World" premades to the lot until you make sure that it's safe. Most of them already have a job, so you don't need to add them in lot.

Goodywood Also, if you don't want the game to let Premade have a new regular job, turn off the Neighborhood Story for both "my households" and "other households".

If any premade still become NPC after doing my method, please let me know. I may have extra mods to avoid that without noticing it. But I'm quite sure that made them "Played" will avoid most case.

If you don't want to let many households being "Played" because of sorting problems, using amapola76's solution below (let them have a job) works too.

For short - "Played" or "Employed (not just part-time)" can prevent them from being assigned to NPC roles.

I am not sure if my "Played" solution + "turning off Neighborhood stories" can avoid NPC assigning without mods or not.

But if they still become NPC even if they are played. Try MCCC mod's setting like this.

With this setting, played household's career won't be changed for sure.

Thank you so so much for helping me! 🤗  I am trying to make sure I re-read what you've posted so I can understand everything clearly.

But...

After spending an hour trying to mark Premade Sims as played households 🤣 I realize what you said about some of the Sims losing their assigned roles, and I don't want to lose that either. So I have to go with your other method and not play with Get Famous. Only issue is I have some CC I made that uses Get Famous objects as a base, so now I have to redo the objects. It's about 8 objects. It will be a little bit of work, but not much as I just have to convert the objects to a different pack or use base game items blah blah,  but worth it to keep my Premade Sims in order. 🤓

It's understandable if you are confused about what I said. Because I have some mods to alter the game, I am not sure if it's the same as your game. But if you don't mind using MCCC (or already use it), life is much easier.

What premade sims that you find that they lost the role? I may check about their function and give more specific suggestions for you. (Each pack has different NPC functions, some NPC can be playable without losing the role)

If you choose the "Disable Get Famous" route like my main save, the downside is about missing EP's items and outfits like you said. It's harder to find the lot in the gallery that doesn't need EP06 Get Famous. This pack is too essential lol.

But if you can fix your CC to not need EP06, and you don't need the premade and functions of this pack. By disabling Get Famous, you won't have to worry about the game sneakily using premade to fill NPC roles anymore.

The new "a little bit of work" will be about redesigning dozens of mixologists and location-based NPC in every new place you visit instead (if you care about the background characters' visuals).

Well, coloncocon I would like for all of the premade sims to keep their roles. Especially Cottage Living and Highschool Years, but I also noticed that Eco Living also had assigned roles. And I would like to keep those as well. 

I do use MCCC and I'm willing to use any mod that helps with this issue. 😊 Especially if it allows me to keep EP06. Like you said, a lot of gallery builds use this EP items and I have a replaced HSY school with a gallery build that uses EP06 items. lol 

Goodywood  Oh, I have to warn another trouble with using the "disable some packs" method.

EA app can't save the "advance launch options" code (where you put -disablepacks:EP06) permanently.

Sometimes it resets the code to be empty, and you may play and save without noticing you have Get Famous active. I have to reverse the progress by using the backup save and lose an hour of playtime.

You have to check this part in EA app before playing, or at least go to check if there are fame system in the panel or not.

Another easier to check that you already disable Get Famous, is to have another save file that has "Get Famous". That save file will have a "Requires GF" icon.

Seeing this icon will make you sure that the disabling is successful and safe to play.

Feel free to ask if you are still not sure about something.

I had experience with disabling this pack for years and still feel that it's worth doing. I can't stand seeing premade in the hired staff randomly as you said.

So glad that there is anyone who thinks the same way, so I want to help as much as I can.
