Why is everything ridiculously over priced? EA is just milking their franchises. It's a successful game so dlc's are released, but then you charge us $40 for the the ones that are actually good and give a new play experience. I remember when dlc's used to cost way less then this for any game with the same amount of stuff you put out. Even the $10 ones are a bit over priced. I think $20 for your big dlc's and maybe do $5-$10 for your smaller ones. You'll still make profit and honestly you'd probably make more money because people can actually buy those dlc's.
Well the price of the game outside of the Origin Store is determined by the Store, so if it's a physical store's prices you are complaining about, then that isn't EA's fault. If you are speaking of the Origin Store, then EA does set the price - however, whether it's ridiculously over-priced is completely subjective, I personally think all DLC is over-priced to a degree due to how the Base Game almost always has over 10 times the amount of content a DLC adds at sometimes the price of almost half the game(that's ridiculous) but when it comes to The Sims franchise it's pretty understandable in my opinion - Expansion Packs add allot of content(more than previous Expansion Packs), they're $50 where I live and half the price of the Base Game($100), Game Packs are $30 after being reduced from 50 and then 40 again and they add allot of new content, as for Stuff Packs they are half the price(Actually 75% of the price where I live since Stuff Packs for TS3 cost $20 now) - $15, although they add less overall stuff in comparison to TS3 Stuff Packs, they add additional gameplay and are cheaper than many Store Sets that have far less stuff. Which is why I subjectively believe they are fairly priced(not cheap, nor expensive) but that depends on the consumer.
This is a changing economy, allot of prices are going up and they will probably continue to go up, I'm seeing Video games that cost over $100 now for current Gen Consoles(that's expensive >.>) Halving the cost of any of their packs could prove detrimental to profit gain, so I'm sorry to say that I doubt they'll permanently put a price down(however they did reduce the price of Game Packs where I live, twice, but we were paying 10 dollars more than anyone else). There's no way of knowing they'll make it profit, this is complete speculation, if you want to prove to EA that reducing the price of The Sims 4's DLC will provide just as much profit as it does now, feel free to give your evidence in thinking in this way - more people buying doesn't mean more profit - if 3 people buy an EP they'd make $120 in the price you have to pay for, if the cost by half, 3 people would buy an EP for a total of $60, they'd make less profit because each person that buys would be paying 50% of the original cost, perhaps more people might buy it but they're still losing profits from that cut.
If you'd like to purchase cheaper DLC, I suggest when they make one of their DLCs Free like they did with the Digital Deluxe Upgrade or wait until they go on Sale. I do feel bad for those who'd love to enjoy this game but simply cannot afford it but when it comes to profits, giving more people the opportunity to purchase the game by decreasing the cost can end up making the game lose profits to the extent where it gets cancelled due to it not making enough profits.
