Q&A: Businesses & Hobbies

Will small businesses open and run if not actively playing the sim who owns it? I just watched a video from English Simmer who said the business closes if your sim leaves.  I am planning on several home businesses in Newcrest, but if the businesses are closed it definitely wouldn't be worth doing. I am hoping that it is because only the base pack and business and hobbies are used in the videos and that there is cross pack play that allows us to start a small business and sell it so it continues to work, like in Get to Work retail.
