- simwolf797 years agoNew AceI don't think I've ever 'created' a sim. I mean, maybe I did when I first got the game, I don't recall but it was likely just a randomised sim that first time. Since then every sim I've played has been sort of related. I generally use townies for partners and the final heirs of challenges to start new stories/challenges/saves. I obviously play around with hair makeup and clothes in CAS, but rarely genetics. Perhaps this is why I find playing with aging on to be so easy. I am attached to my sim ancestry more than individual sims.
- SimAlexandria7 years agoSeasoned AceI age them when I am ready to play with the next age level. I alternate between having it on off and long for my main family, I get them to the skills/relationships I want them to have at that age and them move them up. The kids will eventually grow up and move out and the parents will then be allowed to become elders and I'll probably turn aging off at that point and make them into foster parents with a mod, but I don't want them to die as I like them so much. I don't think I'll follow the kids but I have auto-aging for townies off. I'll start new game files and use the kids in the backgrounds for the new game save at that point.
I do have a legacy challenge going on so of course normal life span for that, but I prefer playing them for a long time. Sims take forever to do anything and I like them to age slow so they have time to do it all haha! - My sims age up and die but only when I feel it makes sense to the story I have set up. I like having aging off because it gives me more control.

Does anyone else ONLY create sims based on characters or real life persons? I can't remember the last time I created an 'original' sim. Hmmm must have been in sim 2 lol. Anyway it would be weird to see those characters look older and heartbreaking to see them die
All my main sims that I play are based on real people. :D - Sometimes I play with aging on, sometimes I don't. Whenever I play with aging turned off, I make different files for each Sim I'm playing with. Part of the my appeal of playing with aging off is that I get to keep all the initial premade townies and they never die off. Let's just face it, most of the randomly-generated Sims that pop up in their place can never compare most of the time.
- I don't play with sims based on real life. I play to get away from the world I live in :D <3
- Anyhow, if youre not cheating its easy to play on long because there is a lot to achieve :)
The only thing I couldn't stand on long are the pets, they are boring. I would have to use an age up treat or something if i place them with my households! :p - The only game I play with Aging On is my Legacy family. I tend to get attached to my sims and don't want to watch them age and die. Sometimes I will manually age them up when I get bored with them. Especially toddlers and babies. I have one game where my goal is to max out every skill in every sim. That's hard to do with the clock ticking.
- I play aging off for specific purposes -- right now I'm working on resetting my template save that'll be the base for most of my future game play. I've got a stylist (downloaded from the Gallery) who will be operating a small clothing shop in Del Sol Valley (DSV Clothiers), and I'm currently working on an artist/photographer who'll be opening a gallery and photo studio in San Myshuno (replacing Planet Honey Pop; I have karaoke bars in Del Sol Valley, Magnolia Promenade and Windenburg so PHP is expendable). I'll leave those Sims in Played Households but only touch them if I want to switch out inventory. Since I want all the Sims in the world to remain pretty much the same, I'm playing with aging off, but I'll likely turn agng back on when I start using the template for actual game play. (I do have another project in mind, a household that unlocks all the career outfits, and that save will likely also be an aging-off save.)
Most of the time, I play with aging on, Long lifespan, but age up Sims (especially children and teens) when I'm ready to take them to the next level; children usually when they've finished a couple of the child aspirations, teens when they've completed their first adult aspiration or reached a point that they have to be an adult to progress (though I'm usually careful not to pick one of those types of aspirations for my teens). - I get bored quick and move on to a new family every 2-3 weeks real time, probably because i play strictly one family until i can't stand it anymore.
