Question on the Sims 4 Movie Hangout Stuff Pack

This pack was released Jan 12, 2016. The primary feature of this pack was what . . . that's right, watching movies. The pack was bugged shortly after release and has yet to be fixed. The bug occurs when watching any movie, the progress will not complete and the sim will sit there watching the movie until one of their needs drags them away. Essentially you cannot watch movies. As the PRIMARY FEATURE of this pack has not worked for close to 4 years, my question is will Maxis or EA, or whoever wants to own up to this screw up either assure us that the pack will be fixed SOON!!! (as in within a couple of weeks) or offer a refund to the pack as it's never really worked in the first place.

  • For me it used to work right, but ever since the patch before Eco, or Eco itself ( can't recall which but was arounfld the 2) I can no longer have watching a movie complete.
  • So I go to test out packed lunches and before I even do I notice my laundry needs done, so I try to do my laundry. The washer and dryer are bugged. There is no option to put away laundry even though it's clean or dry, some of the dryer and washer interactions are greyed out for no apparent reason. I am totally giving up on this game, I gave it so many chances I'm actually feeling embarrassed by how badly I've been ripped off. Each pack comes out and I tell myself, "hey Sims 3 was good, they had bugs, they eventually fixed most of them." I did that time and again, I can't believe how that one little expectation allowed me to let myself get fleeced so badly. I really hope an actually competent company comes out with a life simulator . . . it's one of my favorite genres.
  • I did a club gathering to test out the get together for Mareah before I did the laundry . . . I wonder if the people at the gathering were trying to use the washer and dryer and bugged it out somehow, I wouldn't put it past the games shoddy coding . . . smh By the way, the club gathering worked just fine for me Mareah. I did mine with a custom club though, not sure if that might be a difference from what you were doing.
  • Movies worked fine for me until the Eco Lifestyle patch this year, but I hadn’t bought that stuff pack immediately at release, so I wouldn’t know how they behaved back then. My sims can watch movies until I decide, which I am ok with because I often use movies to kill time and invite friends to watch with them. Of all the bugs, this one is totally bearable to me.

The laundry bug is way more frustrating. From what I’ve gathered, certain upgrades cause the machines to stop working properly. It seems some old clothes get stuck in a loop when I try to wash and dry them. So I have deleted all hampers, clothing piles and laundry machines, then re-purchase them, and it seems to reset things back to normal as long as I don’t make any upgrades beyond adding scent to the washer. I’m looking forward to a patch for this because I’m not getting full use of the product when I can’t upgrade them anymore, not to mention the time and money wasted figuring this out in the 8 households I play.
  • I haven't got EL or Laundry Day, but my SIMs tend to be movie addicts and I haven't noticed any bugs ?
  • Bug fixes take time and money . . . what the heck kind of comment is that? A bug is a flaw in their product, their product vastly influences their reputation. By leaving bugs in a game you are directly and NEGATIVELY impacting your profit, reputation... basically your entire company.

Yeah bug fixes take time and money, a good bug fixing dev team shouldn't take any longer then a few days worth of isolation and coding to fix the average bug. It's code, it's not sending an astronaut to space. Hell you think days is to high an expectation, I disagree but give em a month!!! Most of the bugs linger in the game forever, the only conclusion is they aren't keeping enough Dev's working ONLY on bugs. If you can't release expansion packs and patch your existing game then you should STOP RELEASING EXPANSIONS until the bugs are fixed. This is very basic stuff that dozens and dozens of competent developers already do, I'm just asking Sims 4 to follow suit.
  • Or game packs or stuff packs or whatever you want to release, fix your game first, then add additional content. Why is that considered a drastic request?
  • The game is "mostly" playable right now, but all the time working around bugs, searching the internet for mods that fix bugs that for whatever reason linger in the game. The gut wrenching feeling when you stumble on "yet another" new bug. Yeah it's technically playable right now but it's so aggravating to play it's not any fun. This is a real problem that throwing expansion and expansion pack into the mix is only going to continue to bog the game down in bugs. Pretty soon you'll be spending more time navigating bugs then actually playing the game. Some may say I'm exaggerating, but honestly it's really getting that bad.
  • Sad that we may HAVE to resort to that ... speaks volumes about the dev, I won't elaborate but just leave it at that, I've said my piece.
  • I want to defend one of my earlier statements before dropping this completely. Some in this forum have said that Movies has not consistently been bugged since release. I know for a fact that when it released I loved it to death, constantly had sims over to my house for movie nights and had totally fallen in love with the pack. This was years ago so I might not be 100% on the time frame but I know that not long after it released it was bugged to the point of the sims being unable to watch movies. After that I'd come play the game for a week or so at a time till I'd run into another set of bugs get frustrated and put it away again. I'd give the game a couple of weeks every couple of months before I'd give up on it, and in all those attempts I know that I tried to watch movies.

For the VAST majority of time since it was released the Movie feature hasn't worked for me. For those of you saying it has worked for them, I'm glad it has because it's a great feature, but most times I had problems with Movies I'd hit the forums and find others having the same problem so I know it wasn't just me. Again this was over 4 years so I'm not going to try to scour the forums for years old posts to back that up, but I have no reason to lie about it either.

With that I'm done, for those that still enjoy the game I hope you continue to get years worth of enjoyment out of it. I have no ill feelings to the sims fans, I'm just excluding myself from your ranks from here on out.

    Adieu
