- EgonVMSeasoned AceGoogling found me out that there is indeed a hot key for putting objects in the inventory: backspace.
So yeah, delete key sells, backspace key puts in the household inventory, and escape key sets the object back to its original position. - GalacticGalSeasoned Ace

Awesome. As for putting a new house on the lot, I had this regretful experience. I wanted my Sims to remain on the lot they lived on but desired a new house for them. I tried to put the items I wanted my Sims to keep in their personal inventories, but with some items, this just isn't allowed. Face/palm. Certainly, my Global Superstar, Rock Star, had finally won a few Accolades for Best Song (after years of never being recognized for his music) so losing those things hurt. Yes, I know you can enable hidden objects and repurchase them, but that wasn't my point. Those are career rewards and go straight into the household inventory. When you take them from there to display, you can't pick them up again. :open_mouth: They weren't moving so there was no way to keep furniture, which will also keep your garden upon the move, leaving you simply to replant your crops, if you will
Now, if you're simply adding another dwelling to the lot, nothing adverse should happen. I put barns/stables onto lots that had existing houses on them without any problem.
