- GlacierSnowGhost4 years agoSeasoned AceThanks for testing stuff. Good to know it's not quite as bad as initially it sounded. I really do want the pack, so I'm definitely interested in ways to deal with this feature. And don't worry, I at least will never ask for it to be nerfed. I want other players to have fun with it if they are. It's just not my taste.
Unfortunately though, I have around 200 vampires spread out over several saves. Even if each save only has maybe 15 werewolves (premades and some random ones) that's still a lot more relationships than I feel like dealing with one by one just to make them not all hate each other.
I've been giving it some thought this evening, and I think that with mods I already have like LittleMsSam's "gender and more lot trait" which allows you to ban specific types of sims from specific lots, I can at least keep werewolves and vampires separated from each other while I figure something else out. UI cheats can also save time by just setting relationships as neutral when first meeting. But that can only be used for a controlled sim and another sim. Not on two uncontrolled npcs. The relationships and behavior of the vampires and werewolves I am not controlling has been my biggest concern with regards to this feature.
But... one idea that strikes me as potentially useful and which could even be used in a story related way, is to make a bunch of mixed vampire and werewolf clubs (with the GT club system) and set the club rules as "do be friendly" and "don't be mean" to members in their club (and also toward other similar vampire-werewolf clubs). This would help npc vampires and werewolves learn to get along with each other (potentially a bit faster than just letting them interact normally with random interactions) without me having to go around and babysit them all individually through the process.
Since it sounds like the relationship behaves like a normal sim relationship, just starting from a lower point, this should eventually fix the problem for me. Or at least would force somewhat civil behavior on public lots until they actually get along.
EDIT - If I remember right, dancing together also raises friendship levels rather quickly. So some of the clubs could be dancing clubs. Just for variety. - Kittybass4 years agoSeasoned AceI was able to befriend Vlad relatively quickly with my Were. He was a vendor at a food stall and she started talking to him and a few days later she got invited to a dance party and asked him along and they became friends. I'm not sure about the Vatores because I had my sim attack them first at the bar/hangout thing when I was playing around with werewolf abilities but as far as starting off on the right paw, er, foot, I didn't find it too difficult and in normal circumstances I find Vlad quite difficult to befriend.
- EmeraldEyles4 years agoSeasoned AceHere's one of my werewolves cheering up a sad vampire whilst enjoying the company of a bunch of other vampires. She was already friends with one of the vampires in my game (not pictured here), before she became a werewolf. That friendship hasn't been affected, and the rest of her vampire friendships were either achieved via MCCC relationship cheats, or just being extra friendly and talking about common interests. :)

Screenshot didn't turn out properly, but I had Ryder transform in front of his vampire sister, and best friend, Theodora. His transformation scared her, and they did lose about a quarter of the friendship bar, but it's not like their friendship disappeared entirely. Also they gained a small portion of romance bar, which was odd, but not entirely unusual in my game where I use mods to have Grim as a playable character and weird relationship glitches do occur sometimes. Still the idea of a vampire looking at a werewolf transformation and thinking, 'OMG you're terrifying, and kinda hot' is hilarious to me (except not when it's a sibling). :D
So far working around the whole 'werewolf/vampire rivalry' thing hasn't been anything more than a small nuisance which is easily overcome if you choose not to play with that side of the gameplay lore. :) - EmeraldEyles4 years agoSeasoned Ace

You know, I am happy, actually, that this is not as dire as I feared. Thank you for proving this. I am curious - in the negativity thread, someone mentioned that if you use the ask for werewolf sympathy interaction on a vampire, it totally tanks their friendship, though. Can you confirm this?
I tried it on a vampire one of my werewolves had a good relationship with. It did make the vampire tense, and not in the mood to converse, but aside from a negligible loss on the friendship bar (best friends to just below best friends) it certainly didn't tank the entire friendship. - sclevenger084 years agoNew Veteran

Oh my gosh haha. My Sim is brothers to Caleb and he popped by for a Visit(has residential keys) like 5 minutes before my sim had his first transformation. It scared the crap out of Caleb, he was just running around but he didn't leave for a really long time. It also didn't destroy their friendship at all, I mean they did lose a section of it but definitely didn't tank it or anything. - LaBlue03144 years agoSeasoned AceI have been a little nervous about allowing my werewolf to become fury around her vampire hubby. But I did notice that the last time she did so, she was at a community lot. Vlad was also there. This particular wolf had not yet met the old vampire, but when she saw him, she first growled at him and then proceeded to Mark Territory ON his shoes.
- annaliese394 years agoSeasoned AceDoes anyone know if a werewolf with the Werewolf Diplomacy ability is able to bestow the Werewolf Ally trait on their vampire mate? If so that could be a nice way to change a vampire's negative reaction to werewolves and vice versa.
- That initial dislike between a vampire and werewolf is pretty huge, but Sims naturally want to get along so sitting down for a game of chess or just a friendly or funny exchange for a bit will work. It's definitely more than 5 minutes but it's not difficult. The Ask for Werewolf Sympathy reaction seems to cause a negative reaction. I'll have to play that a little more and see what that really does.
- annaliese394 years agoSeasoned AceI think I read on the negative thread that Caleb reacted positively to ask for werewolf sympathy, so it may not always cause a negative reaction?
