Realm of Magic - So " infatuate " can't break up couples?

So in my game, Don Lothario got married to Dina Caliente. And I thought it would be funny if my spellcaster sim infuatuated Don to get together with Katrina. (I have this perk that lets you cast a spell from a distance so other Sims won't see it.) I did the spell 3-4 times or more. Dina was standing in front of them a couple of times while they kissed, she definitely saw. But she had no reaction whatsoever. The same happened when I made Katrina's husband kiss Nina, she didn't react. I am very disappointed because what's the point of this spell if you can't even have some fun with it... :D I was hoping for some drama :'(
How does the spell work in your games? Did anyone have any similar or different experience?

It might be a bug or intentional I'm not sure. Sims don't seem to react at all.
  • I've only tried this spell once on a couple random townies fishing with my spellcaster. She was a noob and cast the spell while standing right next to them. They didn't kiss, only did the shocked animation with thought bubbles of my Sim above their heads. They also don't like her now. lol I'm guessing the spell failed, but she luckily didn't get a curse. She's a Virtuoso now and can cast from afar, but I haven't tried it again yet.
  • I've only ever seen other Sims autonomously slap cheating Sims if they have the angry cheating moodlet over the sad cheating moodlet. So I presume if you don't get them angry enough, they won't slap them autonomously. Divorcing is always tagged as not autonomous bc it is a major life event, just like eloping.
  • Sims 4 sims won't automatically slap/argue/divorce like they did in Sims 2. They just get a jealous moodlet, which could be easily overpowered by nice decorations and high needs. If you want them to break up you either have to flirt with the married sim yourself and have your sim ask the other to divorce their spouse, or play as the couple after they've gotten the upset moodlet and manually get them into an argument and divorce them yourself.

Actually, I'm sure I've seen people slap their partners when they see them flirting with someone else in the sims 4, I'm not sure about divorce. But yeah I wish it were more more dramatic/realistic like in the Sims 2 and 3 :D

I have seen sims fight, slap and argue and all that (maybe it depends on their traits as some had mean or jealous trait); but the only time I had sims break up was when I told them to leave their spouse or write a mean letter on love day. I don't think they ever can break up on their own without mods (probably because they know not everyone wants to lose couples so they leave that more up to the players). I tried a love spell and they were more mad at sim for doing it and kissed the other sim. If their spouse was around, I assume they would be upset.
