Start with one world….

Been rebuilding too for few years now
I just rebuild one lot at a time until there is no more lots to rebuild and try to always pick different lot to build on (so i don't keep building that one lot over and over and over)

I don't tend to bulldoze things in advance as I find it too overwhelming

for sims I just delete randomized sims as they spawn and keep premades to play with

I also play the save as i go cause its gonna take a long time to build all these lots we have and id never get to play otherwise :lol:

and yup then i just try to remember to add everything i build on gallery so if the save dies i can at least start new save and readd the builds

don't have much complete worlds yet but thats on me for always choosing to build in different worlds and neighborhoods instead of sticking to finishing one world in specific :lol:

I'm almost two years into mine. I like to build world by world. All premades get makeovers adding diskikes/likes without changing genetics. At first I was plopping down Gallery builds but I'm too picky for that. I took the time to get comfortable with building in TS4. Lots of renovating EA lots and watching YT videos for inspiration.

Since you only want to use Gallery builds, it won't take you nearly as long. :) Good luck on your journey.

I imagine it would be a tedious process but all great journeys start with a first step. So instead of just deleting everything first, why not start building the new worlds in your vision? You can start by building a lot and then another and so on, and if you come across a lot that you want to use but it's occupied you can evict and bulldoze as you go.

I have a vanilla save game (took out all mods except MCCC and UI cheats) for this exact purpose. I did make a save file a few years ago by just downloading builds from the gallery, and it didn't take too long, but I've gotten better at building and wanted to try my hand at building my own save file.

So far I've only finished Willow Creek and a handful of lots in Oasis Springs. I also deleted all the premade sims except for the ones with specialty roles (Father Winter, Sages, etc), and have been populating the world with my own sims. I've even created extended family for some of them just so there will be more connection between worlds, so it's taking me awhile and I don't think I'll probably finish this save file until a few years after the Sims 4 ends :p

Tips?

- Start with one world and finish it before moving to another. If you jump around it can get confusing.
- If you plan on making your own sims, you can delete premades in the manage households panel by clicking the X in the right hand corner. Much easier than evicting.
- If you're going to download houses from the gallery, try to find a few builders you like and go through their catalogs to find what you like. This might help give your worlds a more unified look, if that's something you care about.
- If rebuilding the worlds becomes more chore than fun, go do something else for awhile. There are a lot of worlds now, so it's going to take awhile whether you download or build. Don't burn yourself out.

Well nowhere near the level of the wizardry some possess but I like to think that when you build a lot you eventually get better at it

also the beautiful thing about The Sims is that if you build badly you can always just bulldoze and start over :wink: and no harm was done

for every successful build of mine there is probably hundreds of ugly boxes i have built and bulldozed which made it all possible ??

As NRowe said, start with one world. It's a long process but the end result is so rewarding. As you go along, more inspiration will hit you. When you hit a creativity wall, then move onto something else.

It sounds like from your post, you don’t plan on building everything and using the Gallery instead. If I understood that right, then it will be a lot of fun deciding on what theme you want for each world.

Also, I'm pretty sure there are some empty saves out there with no lots and Sims. I believe the video Simgirl1010 linked above has a link to an empty save. I would start there. Or, shameless plug of myself, if you don’t want to build but create your own sims, I have an unpopulated save. It's just my builds but you add your own sims. All worlds to San Sequoia are built. I didn't do Horse Ranch's world because I didn't get the pack. I do plan on getting For Rent though.

If you do intend to build everything, you'll get better as you go. The same goes for sims and their stories. I've gone back many times and rebuilt some lots that were done when I wasn't as good a builder. I'm not the best builder even now but I like my builds.

Actually DOING it! I went to start, and I froze up because I just somehow didn't have the nerve to start going about the business of evicting and deleting and bulldozing and so on. So, those of you whom HAVE done this process, how did you begin and what was the most rewarding part of the experience overall? I'm hoping to get some inspiration here, to go ahead and actually do it myself!

While I haven't taken on the project which you describe, I have to say I'm rather reluctant to 'mess' with Sims and lots in the game. One thing that helped me to bridge this gap was to remember I can always open a New Game and voila things will be back to 'normal', if you will. Best of luck on your venture.
