Resurrect a Sim with the book of life?

Hi, a sim of mine recently died, so I tried summoning them with the book of life, but they only came back as a ghost. Is this how resurrecting a Sim with the book of life works? Or is there something else I need to do to bring them fully back to life? Many thanks :)

Have the ghost read the book.

If they keep putting the book away and not resurrecting, then put away all bookshelves and accessible storage until after the ghost has read the book.
