Retail employees will not complete tasks

So I've been playing around with the new retail features that came with this expansion pack, and I have to say for the most part I am very impressed. They have added some much needed challenge to the game.

One problem that I keep facing is that my employees will not actually do the tasks I assign them. For example I have one employee and I had assigned her the task of ringing up customers to help my sim out as I hadnt purchased any perks so the action took some time, well that employee continued socializing while the amount of customers ready to buy increased. Hopefully this is a bug, as I really don't want employees who stand and chat their whole shift.

On a separate note, do employees get breaks? Or is the only option working them for a few hours? They hadn't been at work more than 5 hours and they had to leave because they were in overtime.
  • Hello everyone,

I'm having issues when I'm trying to hire employees for my stores. I used to have multiple options for the employees and now I have none. I've tried opening up new stores, and using different families but I still don't have any employees to hire. Is anyone else having this issue?

Hello @jellybean2790 .I will repost here what I posted on the other thread.
Do you have unplayed sims when you go to manage households?

Do you have cc/mods in your game? If you do, move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and test to see if the issue is still there.

Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair

If the issue remains, you may need to start a new save file .
You could save your sims and their homes to your library and place them into a new save game. They will lose though any relationships that your sims has with sims not in their household, and will lose their inventory and collections progress. They will retain though their skills, reward traits, aspiration progress and their careers.
  • im kinda sorta having the same issue my employee will show up and clock inn and leave and says i had them stay longer than over time

    Hello
You may need to fire the employee and then hire another one,and see if that helps the issue.

If the issues still remain, repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.

If you still have problems, try going to manage worlds, click on the lot where the store is, sell the store, then have your sims buy it again.

So many of my customers have left! And when you first start out, you can only have one employee, so my poor sim chica is running around stressed, smelly, and starving while over-paid bum chats it up in front of the fireplace -.-

LMAOOOOOOOO!!!! So true!!1 its so annoying! I have fired 2 employees already!!! They do absolutely nothing. Eve with two employees, i still have to have my sim mom, husband, and daughter to help ring up customers.
  • Bump because this still happens. :(
I tried "scolding" the employee, still doesn't do anything, just chatting and chatting and chatting.
I tried demoting him, he said he wants to quit, then I had to promote him again because he wanted to quit, this is awful.
  • Don't think how you're supposed to manage your workers are very obvious plus, think how you can handle their work hours and schedules could been handled better. But never had problems with workers performance before, they do exactly what i instruct them to do. that said you're never going to get them to do both sales and ring up. You either have them do sales and answer questions or ring up costumers or divide jobs between two workers if you have more than one, then do missing things yourself other than that it works fine.

But there could been a better tutorial into how managing workers and a store works, rather than you have to figure out yourself.

P.S another thing i noticed is sales will take longer the more expensive your products are, the cheaper the shorter time between ring up. For instance if you sell 100 simoleons goods it will sell faster than paintings for 2000 simoleons, if you have to take that into account to when your running your own store or art gallery.
  • Oof, I made a retail shop but after a few hours decided to sell it off. It's far too much hassle, you gotta be there for it to run so you can't just hire a few employees and leave it to fend for itself like you can with the vets, and the employees often don't do what they're supposed to do. I've seen sims stood around getting angry nobody was ringing them and when I checked my employees they had totally forgotten all about the tasks I set them to do that morning! Instead I had to run around ringing customers before they disappeared that by closing time I had a load of stuff I needed to restock which I would've done myself if I wasn't chasing after customers all day that the other employees should've been doing. >< Also the profits were negligable after paying wages and restocking supplies.
