Running away from home.

I'd really like it if this was added back. Sim teens get mad at parents for being grounding or they are told they can't see their boy/girlfriend anymore, so they run away from home. This happened a couple of times in the Sims 2 when the relationship with the parents was poor. I'd also like it if we could take their phones away, not just their gaming capabilities. I am hoping this is as fleshed out as the Vampire pack was.

I feel as though running away is not an option cause teens can't have a house by themselves. You have to trick the game by bringing them in from the gallery/your library in order for them to have a place of their own......if I remember correctly. So what would running away do? They would run away for, what? A couple of hours......a day? Then come home? The point of having this option would be to have those kinds of stories where the teen was kicked out/had run away to start their own life somewhere else. Therefore the family bond broken.....drama ensues beyond that. I just don't think its needed really.

Teens can live on their own. In Sims 2, when they ran away you couldn't play them anymore

This. @Bear31 they removed the last of the barriers to making teens live alone recently. It's really easy now :) (Well, as easy as for YAs etc.)
  • since teens actually can live alone, I feel like this is doable for any individual who actually wants to do it from a storytelling standpoint.
I personally wouldn't care for it.
  • I had a lot of fun playing with an independent teen in TS3, I still remember the nights he'd be out driving late & get caught by cops

My lil brother & I used to go out for midnight drives when we were younger, We'd buy some grub from a drive through & just drive anywhere for an hour or so. It was sorta how we bonded especially since my home was always crowded, too many people at any time & it was just stifling. We don't get to hang out much these days. I miss it.

I haven't tried this with TS4 mainly because there is no curfew set or punishments either. Would really enjoy the heck out of it with more challenges placed in.

Good times. I wish we had cars in game and teens would take car without permission and drive off to rabbit hole and leave us and parent there at house, steaming. lol It would be fun to see the parent steaming and can't do anything else until the teen gets back. :D

I don't care about running away, but taking their phones away would be a good addition. Until they get it back, the phone in their inventory screen could have a red line through it and if you try to use it you get a pop up saying that your sim is being punished and can't use their phone. Then you could have a "plead for phone" action with the parent to get it back.
Phones being taken away is awesome I agree about not caring if they can run away.
