I mean you coooooooould set up a lot full of mannequins with each style, then just plop it onto an empty lot and have sims go there to change. Maybe line them up based on style? You could then share it on the gallery. Since they'd be placed post-Cottage Living, they shouldn't cause crashes. That's my idea for a current workaround without MCCC or S4S.
This is what I do. To start with it was a fairly utilitarian approach, just so I could get at the outfits, but over time I have turned them into a number of clothes shops.
It can be good if you want common school/career outfits. Also adds a nice little bit of gameplay in taking newly aged up children to the shop to get their uniform for starting school.
It can take a fair amount of setting up and sadly you can't copy an outfit to and fro from a Sim and Mannequin with MCCC to speed things up.
But yeah, the game really needs the ability to save outfits in CAS. Pretty shocked it hasn't been added by now.
