Seasons - Weather Missing

So, I'm not exactly sure how long ago this started, but I know that I noticed the lack of weather about a month ago. There is nothing but the straightforward, typical sunny-type days in my Sims. The calendar shows me that a holiday is coming up, but it never actually happens. The season indicator under the bottom/middle clock tells me it's day 5 of 7 of winter - but there's never any snow (even though it's predicting snow in the forecast) no wind, rain etc. Everyone's walking around in their dresses and shorts. I have all of those features (rainstorms, snow, reacting to temp changes etc) enabled in the Seasons' category options. Yes, I *had been* playing around with some mods, but I've completely removed them, I've updated all of my drivers, I've right clicked on my game in Origin to 'repair game'. What now? I'm not as computer-literate as most of you, so please bear with me as I try to keep up. (don't even know how to add a screenshot! ugh...)

Something to keep in mind when using any mods or CC is that every time you add or remove something from your mods folder you need to delete the localthumbcache file in your Sims 4 folder. That file can cause issues with mods. So delete that file, try another game repair, and then load your save and see if it works normally. The game will generate a new localthumbcache file when you start it. And in future, make sure that if you add something new or take something out of your mods folder, that you delete that file.

I can't guarantee this will fix your problem but I hope it does. Good luck! ?
  • So! Deleting that cache file, repairing game and creating a new game has made weather finally show up!
Except when I go to the family I just created before posting for help, it still has no weather. (Kinda want to play that family...) How do I fix it throughout my whole game?

Maybe you can save them to your Library and add the family to a new save?
Since the "old" save they are in doesn't seem to work.

It's possible that the save could be corrupted. But you could also try traveling to another world for a few minutes and travel back, see if it smooths itself out. If not, then @JackOnYourBack 's suggestion might be your last resort.
  • Interesting. If you've removed your mods and repaired your game, but it's still happening, then I'm not sure.

Only thing I could think of suggesting is to see if the same thing happens on a newly created save. If the weather goes on normally, maybe it's an issue with your save??

Also, double check your season/weather settings.
  • It's any family that I create, it's a continued problem. And yeah I totally checked the settings a million times thinking I'm overlooking something :-(
Ugh, this sucks! Seasons is one of my top 2 faves.
  • Okay I did that and will give it a go.
How do I know what files are and aren't necessary? (cache, cachestr, GLOB file?)

So glad to see your game is fixed. Yay. Oftentimes, I have learned that a game save or even a Sim itself can become corrupted. I made the grand mistake of putting one of the mods I use back in place after a major Mod-Buster patch, without first investigating if it had been updated. Corrupted my game save and my main Sim. I had to restart, but that's okay, I found out that a newer and updated version for the mod had been made. So, a fresh start was great. :) Sometimes, these things happen for a reason and to our own favor, too. Happy Simming!
