Seasons making it tough to use the laundry clothesline?

Gosh, I haven't yet run into this problem, yet. I have in RL until we could afford our own dryer. What we had to do on rainy days was to use an indoor drying rack. Happily, I had a big enough kitchen for it.

As for what you might try there is a glass roofed awning. Or, perhaps you can created a building out in the back yard with a high enough ceiling? Like a green house, without plants.

This sounds like a situation from the 18th century. Sometimes, a family had to wait for the first warm day after winter to do any laundry at all. Clothes were hung over bushes to dry! If you had a baby in the house, their napkins were dried in front of the fireplace. Can you imagine the stench?

@GalacticGal I'm so glad I have an inside dryer for my kiddo's (endless) laundry. I used to have a very romanticized view of life in the past, but these days I'm too appreciative of hot running water and medical care. :smiley:

I did eventually get a sunny day, and the clothes dried! Whew! Then the clothesline immediately broke. :wink:

I still don't know if putting them on the porch under a ceiling made a difference. I like your glass ceiling idea. I've been thinking of making a greenhouse -- maybe I'll put the clothesline inside it and see if that works.

With all the effort they wasted on that laundry pack, you'd think they would have taken this into consideration and included a clothes horse.

We need this. My sims live in the age of no electricity and their washing has been hung on the line for 4 seasons! It's constantly wet, even on the 2 sunny days with no rain they didn't dry in time.

I want to be able to hang them in front of the fire place to dry quicker but the washing line is too big for indoors and can't place inside anyway

Yes, definitely. I use washing machines in most of the households now because this whole thing became annoying. If only we had clotheslines for inside use. Now the only thing that solves the problem is a glass room, outside of course. Kind of like a greenhouse.

I deleted the clothesline cuz all the rain. But given your challenge if you haven't increased the days of the seasons you can try that. I use 14 days for each season and I get clear days.

One of my sims had to replace their clothes line just recently because lightening had taken out their old clothes line.

There is a glass awning in the game. Try that. If that fails, try to build a 'greenhouse' and see if that works. I recently was able to put that fancy fireplace from JA into a greenhouse to help warm the plants in winter. Don't know if it will help, but they didn't have furnaces as we know them back in the 18th century. And, we don't have the Franklin Stove in the game this time, either. Heavy sigh.

After further testing -- it does look like putting the laundry line on a covered porch does seem to work, even if you use a regular ceiling rather than a glass awning.

(It took me a while to figure out how to make the ceiling though! I had never made a covered porch without a room over it before.)

Edit to add -- I live on the coast where it's really foggy, and I have a clothes horse too (like the 3rd from the top left in the picture above!) -- I put it on the porch when the weather is nice but inside by the heater when it's not! Seems like our sims definitely need something like this!
