Do you think that sentiments will work well for rotational players?I have read that sentiments wear away kind of fast. I'm afraid they become obsolete for rotational players, specially when playing with a lot of households...

I read that some sentiments can last for weeks while other fade away faster, so I suppose it all depends on your rotational schedule. Which type of situation are you worried about? I play rotationally but don't follow a schedule myself, so in case I got a juicy sentiment, I'd stick around and play longer with the family. Or I could play another family and then return to the earlier family before the sentiment wears out. The sentiment system does seem to favour sticking longer to one household or playing just a few households.

How do I do it?!If you mean to cut back on your families played in a rotation, you could go into the desired household, do a Save As, rename it and then you won't accidentally overwrite it. Do this for each household you wish to remove. Then, go back to the household you wish to stick with, (so to speak) and the other households will still be there to interact with, but you won't have to worry so much about what sentiments hit them, since you've already got them saved. (I do hope I made that clear enough. If not, just ask.)

I’m a bit sad to hear that the sentiments just fade away. I was rather hoping they would be more like memories and have longer impacts on the Sims lives. I also play rotationally and I’m wondering about this too.

I think it was Graham who said that sentiments last for varying lengths of time and they fade away, but you can also prolong the sentiment by repeating the action that caused it. Frankly I wouldn't want my sims stuck with strong sentiments their whole life, I think it's normal that they fade away after a while. Now we need to see how long certain sentiments last by default, for some sims they may last longer depending maybe on their traits. I imagine it will be possible to mod them if you want certain sentiments to last longer.

It will suck but given their track record, I am pretty sure that is exactly what will happen. I have had to adjust how I play rotationally through seasons and university.

I'm very interested to dl this feature with the patch after work today. I'm hoping it changes things up and makes it interesting to play my sims again.

I'm up and running with sentiments already. I decided to play Kalamainu'u first since she's got a strong impact on other sims. After a healthy string of mean interactions towards another sim, she's now Furious with that Sim. I sent Kala home to eat and sleep on it, and the next day after the anger moodlets were gone I had her meet the same Sim at the beach again and she became angry as soon as she saw that Sim. I love it! I'm going to separate the two of them and see how long Furious lasts if they don't meet.

I worry a bit about this, too. The only way I might benefit from sentiments might be to play a house for a few more days than I normally do. But then, why would i do that - what is the gain? I understand socials might be a bit more interesting with more depth, but if it's all gone the next time I play the house, there's probably hardly any point in making those sentiments. And they probably won't take say 7 actively played days (not fading while playing other houses), because a sentiment might include a sim living elsewhere, and then if I lay that house, it would be weird if their common sentiment would not fade.

I guess I'll just go with the flow, focusing on short time sentiments, if a good amount lasts for only 12-24 hrs, they might still affect rotational games. I'm actually more worried that the game might waste resources on calculating NAPs' sentiments - it might slow down my game to no gain... Hopefully it's mainly the active household.

I find that most things don't play well for rotational play. The only interesting household is always the one you're playing even if you left the household before that with a lot of interesting emotions, moodlets, events and what not.. I doubt this system will change anything, but I also like to be proven wrong :)

After a sound workaround I can finally play without crashing (I hope so!!!) so I managed to play a bit yesterday with rotational save. What I can confirm so far is that sentiments forms for other playables on their own.

I was tending retail store with my active household when I've noticed that two teens from other neighbor families had bad conversation and sentiment icon appeared for one of them. I've jumped briefly to these two households to check and indeed a guy formed a festering grudge sentiment for a girl, she had no sentiments for him. I won't play this families in rotation for a long time so I'll be jumping to them from time to time to see will it fade away on it's own.

I kinda found this funny and refreshing 'cause I was planning these two to be a couple. So now I either have to develop some sort of love/hate relationship for them or let them be. But I understand that for some for the same reason this can be frustrating.

@Harukotyan ooh, do let us know whether it fades in time, I've been impatient to hear how rotational players are doing as I haven't yet started on mine.

@telmarina it's in the header of the forum, here's the direct link to the thread with instructions - https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/983645/crashing-with-the-november-10-update - in short you add the -nosound argument to game properties. But this works only for PC/Mac not for console.
