Separating/ Divorcing your Sims - TS4

Anyone got any suggestions on the best way to have sims be divorced especially if they have children?
i.e. living arrangements, relationship. Also has anyone has divorced sims before? Tell me about your storylines and experiences :)

@Gruffman I didn't know it was an option for a sim to erase another sim's memory. If this is alien-sim specific, I have just become very excited about my sim's alien toddler ageing up to teen etc. While she was a baby the parents still lived together but the mother performed minimal childcare tasks as she Hates Children.
@the1975 I think you're right. Alexandrea will probably stay with her dad, Luca. He's really friendly though, so maybe he will allow a good relationship between his ex-wife Monica and his baby Alexandrea. Although it's not entirely called for as the two don't have a strong bond and the baby isn't biologically hers.

It is under mischief and called memory erase. It is alien specific. Sims with a high mischief skill will do it randomly on their own. The one sim will keep all their memories, so whatever friendship/romantic bar will remain as it was, the "victim" will have the friendship/romantic bar reset to zero.

Whoa! Randomly? As in, I can have a townie or an unplayable Sim or even a playable sim I am not playing at the moment just go about town erasing Sims memories just villy nilly without ANY prompting and erasing all my hard work?!?

I cause break ups if I get bored enough, but I also let them work out their issues sometimes, even if they do it in separate households for a while. The break ups don't always involve cheating either, sometimes I have them argue over one working too much and not helping around the house, someone getting too caught up in their career and not helping with the kids, etc... It just depends on the story I'm trying to tell. Divorces were more fun in the TS2 days, although I did like that TS3 gave us self-help books.
  • I don't think I've ever had sims get divorced other than the fact there were extracurricular activities. I would have the cheater move out and they'd live a simple life.
