In real life, so long as your income was normal, your electricity/water/gas usage etc was not high and you don’t own a mansion, your bills would be a normal amount, regardless of whether or not you happened to own a painting worth millions (although of course you may choose to spend a lot on insurance).
So I think that in the sims bills should be calculated on the basis of income and things like thermostat usage. Perhaps it should even include house size. But bills should not be raised on account of your sim owning a large number of expensive items.
Yeah it just doesn't make any sense of me. It's not like I get bills for the things I own in real life (not that they're insanely expensive or anything), they're bought, paid for and done.
