We would have all been made aware that the shrine was altered and/or removed from the game for being culturally insensitive.I'd like to see it changed into a ancestors/spirit shrine or something non offensive. I know Japanese people & other Asian cultures, they have a strong focus on ancestors, couldn't they change the object mesh/design & rework it to be a ancestor shrine where they could "leave offerings (from inventory)" or "talk to ancestors" "ask ancestors for advice" "pray to ancestors". Among other things. I understand they removed/altered it because it was seen as culturally inappropriate to Koreans. BUT that's one less item/function for the PAYING CUSTOMER...They shouldn't be able to just remove/alter the item and thats that... It NEEDS to be replaced. That's one less piece of value this pack has. I havent seen any mention of replacing it with something else. I would have loved an ancestor shrine. What do you think it should be replaced with? P. S: The "left as is" means altered by EA with prayer features removed etc. NOT left with what's seen as culturally inappropriate.

Which is why I stand by what I say, that the shrine should be turned into ancestor's/spirit shrine, as it is intrinsic to such cultures.

Maybe we should wait to see what's changed before jumping off the deep end.

Maybe instead of bowing there could be another animation? Just something small so it feels like we can still interact with the object instead of just having sims stare at it.

What's wrong with them bowing their heads to it? Isn't that literally giving respet to the spirit altar that it already is?

I agree. I mean they had so many choices when it came to something like this. And honestly, ancestors are a big part of most Asian cultures (including Japanese), so I would have preferred an Ancestor shrine, something like this

Where sims could leave offerings, put up portraits of passed sims, ask for advice and perhaps meditate/pray at the shrine.

Im not sure if they've 100% removed it, or kept it in but just removed the animation (so now we pretty much have a useless object...) im NOT ok with that, it needs to be replaced as its removing the gameplay in the pack & compensation should be given for that. Which is why I think it should be re-meshed & made into something else entirely.

I'm not Korean so I don't 100% know. From what I've read from others inc. Koreans, the Korean people were forced to bow their heads to Japanese shrines & were physically punished if they did not, which is why for some it is a representation of that time period and the brutalization of their people.

Funny thing is, I thought the "shrine" WAS a "pay respects to ancestors" action. I mean, we only saw the image of a sim bowing in a teaser trailer ffs, for all we know it could have been a "doctored" shot (something the sims team have done in the past for their trailers). Snowy Escape features the first official graveyard in TS4, so I assumed that it was a "pay respects" action over anything pertaining to religion. Something about the complete overreaction from Korean (and woke) players just rubs me the wrong way, like they're happy to jump to a conclusion without getting any further details. As I said, this was just a teaser I am fully disappointed that the interactions with the "shrine/grave/w/e" it is, will be removed, truthfully it should be optional and have a low "autonomous" queue action. Having it removed is more disrespectful imho.
