Really? I've been playing the Sims since the Sims 1, so I don't think you're in any position to tell me the Sims isn't "my type of game." That is what I mean by a FINISHED GAME. Waiting was bearable in other games because they had a FINISHED base game. Unfortunately, that is not the case in The Sims 4, and people are getting sick of it. You may enjoy waiting, but most people do not.
I think people look back through rose tinted glasses.
The Sims 3 base game is very bare. People complained because there was almost no family content, and most venues were Rabbit holes. The only non-rabbit hole venues behaved no different to houses (Park, Pool, Library, Gym). There were only a small handful of hobbies (Painting, Guitar, Gardening, Fishing, Writing).
It's a decent base, but a complete game it is not.
I don't think there was anyone who be happy with just the Sims 1 base game either. There was next to nothing in that game, just a concept.
The Sims 2 base game is probably the most full, and the only base game where I could see people being happy for a long time without DLC.
Speaking as a Sims 3 fan: yes it’s complete. In the meaning that it made total sense when they announced the successor (and that was even before they released the last two EP’s). Nobody went “nooooo, how can they, there’s still so much we haven’t got yet!!” like I hear Sims 4 fans saying whenever someone mentions a Sims 5. Of course it’s always possible to continue piling up other content to the experience, but it’s complete alright.

Exactly. It’s not all about nostalgia or looking back. I play the previous games regularly. No rose tinted glasses required. Just the games for what they are.
Silence is annoying but not unexpected.
We're talking about base games. You've misquoted me.
The point being made is that people didn't look at the past 3 base games before The Sims 4 and think that 'the game doesn't need DLC'.
When people look at the base games, they look through rose tinted glasses. There is no way that any player could play any of the base games for over 5 years and never once be tempted by DLC. The person I quoted was talking about how previous base games are just as enjoyable with or without DLC.
I think anyone who isn't delusional will admit DLC makes The Sims more enjoyable and always has done. I can't fathom that someone could sit there with just the Sims 1 base game and be content. The DLC makes the Sims what it is, for sure.
I highly doubt anyone could install DLC for The Sims and say the experience hasn't improved.

But they're telling you they have new content to reveal in June and no one chooses to listen!
It is SO frustrating seeing people complain about silence, and then when they're told exactly what they've been asking to hear, they choose to ignore it. We are literally weeks away from an announcement and people are acting like we haven't been told.
EA Play is in June. We find out about new content then. It's that simple. If people choose to act like this information doesn't exist, that's their ignorance. Don't complain about it.

Getting rid of developers who have been there since the beginning is not a good move for the sims series. Budget cuts is even worse. And no amount of spin can change that.
