After she moved in did you make sure you saved and check manage sims to make sure she showed on the household panel and you hearted it. Otherwise if she was still an NPC added for game filler to the library or something as she may have been culled. Culling removes their file but if they were still in game playing with your household she may have looked like a ghost as most her files had been culled.
What you might be able to do if you saved after moving her in is go back to that save and get her back.
