Are there any simgurus living in the Ukraine, or any that have friends or family members currently living there? I don't know the answer to that question, do any of you?
There's a war going on and our fellow simmers in the Ukraine are literally fighting for their lives right now. For all we know, our own allied military forces may end up having to ship out to help these people survive another day. Things are up in the air right now and none of us know what tomorrow may bring.
So perhaps the gaming community could hold off on their EA/Maxis pitchfork tribunals right now until a time when it might be a little more appropriate? - KaraGaelford4 years agoSeasoned Ace

I agree with what you say in your post. I feel nothing but pain and sorrow, when I see what's going on in the world and the struggle other simmers face, but my understanding is that we're not supposed to talk about political issues in the forum. - KaraGaelford4 years agoSeasoned Ace@temporalgod
Thankyou for your comments. While I didn't explicitly say anything about supernaturals in the game in my post, I did say that people are dissatisfied in part, because they are not getting what they really want. As a supernatural player myself, I can only agree with you on that score and hope they eventually address it. - MidnightAura864 years agoSeasoned Ace

I would think the chances of that are unlikely. My Husband is working and we are in the U.K. Businesses unless they are directly in the cross fire can’t just close down. They can support indirectly as many devs have by donating their proceeds to those impacted. EA do have offices in Europe but not in Ukraine and I’m not sure if any work on the sims. My understanding is they are based in the USA.
It was only a few weeks ago EA were punishing Russia of their own choosing.
Also they are promoting this pack even though they know it’s broken! So I don’t think it’s anything to do with world events, it’s a case of they can put their hands over their ears and go La La La I can’t hear you safe in the knowledge that simmers are buying it anyway. - Karamazov1234 years agoSeasoned Ace

Doubtful. I don't see how ignoring customers for days and not making any comments about the Ukraine situation shows respect or concern towards Ukraine's plight.
Things are definitely hard right now, and I'm sure many Gurus have friends or family who are now involved in a dangerous situation. I don't mind if any individual Gurus feel the need to stay quiet and handle things privately. But that doesn't mean the whole company has to go dark, the world can still be aware of serious issues and be concerned, and still do their jobs.
To be clear, I don't blame the devs for any of this. But the situation has been poorly handled by the company. - logionX4 years agoLegend

What’s happening right now is horrible but let’s try to not bring that up here as many play games such as the sims to get a break from reality. "AncientMuse;c-18071410" wrote:

Tbh I think the problem is that what community needs right now isn't addressing the controversy
twitter mess and confusion
what we need is just simple announcement "we know game is buggy laggy glitchy mess and we will sort it out asap thanks for your patience hoping to have fix to by get back to you then"
none of the emotional roller coaster lets just have solid announcement and people working on the real problem that is broken game not players broken hearts
once the game is fixed the controversy is also naturally fixed
It's not as simple as saying it's a buggy glitchy laggy mess. I don't have a lot of the issues that other simmers report, there are differences between playing on console, laptop and pc. They can only fix bugs that they can recreate on their system in an entirely unmodded game, and actually right now they aren't even on their official system, they're on their home computers which may play the game differently than the computers in the studio. I know for a fact that a some of people complaining about lag, glitches and bugs are not being honest about their mod status or their system specs. I don't believe for one second that the gurus don't care about the player base or the game. Their livelihoods and ability to provide for their families depends on the game running smoothly and customers being satisfied. I also think that considering they have been pretty open with us regarding timelines for pack development people should consider the fact that MWS is bugged yes, but it's also likely the first pack they have tried to start to finish isolated from one another working from home.
Edit to add: controversy is one thing, but some gurus have had to endure insults, bullying, and actual threats and I am so so so tired of that being justified by players on behalf of som bugs, glitches, and lag.
I'm playing an unmodded vanilla game on absolute standard Intel-Nvidia equipment and my weddings are still disasters.
Sorry, but both the quality of this pack and the whole communication around it are terrible. The community's bad behavior on twitter is no excuse for this. We need transparency and a plan for the future.
The first part of my statement was referring to the game in general as was the comment I was replying too. I don’t have a lot of the general bugs that many players complain about. I also don’t disagree about MWS, it is bugged and it needs fixing. I think we will get information at some point going forward but I think the devs are likely going to reduce their direct engagement with the community and going forward it will be more strictly business and less friendly banter. As I just told someone on Twitter they are human beings, they took a lot of bullying and even some threats against themselves and their families, and I don’t care who you are or what your job is Nobody deserves that for any reason. It’s inhumane and disgusting and so it defending it “because it’s their job”. This is a stupid video game that serves as a minor distraction and a way to pass time and many members of its player base need to get some freaking perspective. - Joanne_Snow4 years agoLegendI feel like I just answered this question in the negative feedback section so I'll copy/paste my answer again here.

But not the gameplay they hyped. The silence has been interesting.
This is just how they respond to everything they do wrong. Remember the total silence around MFPS?
I love that there is a survey though with a free comment section. At least I could tell them to get their plum together.
Not that EA will actually do anything with our feedback but whatever.
Anyway, if this was a franchise with a more generally visible player base (like they had for Battlefront) they *might* actually come out and address it, and offer some kind of "fix". But for the sims, I doubt it.
Tbh, at this point I'm curious if EA is actively trying to run this franchise into the ground.
ETA: also I don't think it's on the SimGurus specifically to address it, but rather EA through the official sims account. No need to send all the viral hate to a single employee who's probably just following orders anyway.
