Yes, I too hope at some point an ultra extreme setting comes along and ups the poly count. The only other EA game I have is Plants vs Zombies, a great example of cartoony graphics done well - and as mentioned in the previous posts it does take advantage of the newer processors and it looks great on my ridiculously powerful desktop- but it also has the extreme lower end too which is very useful for my less able laptop.
It does seem a bit of an odd thing to have such a low graphics setting- you would have thought being as Simmers like to put their snapped pictures and videos up all over the web ( possibly more than other game players do), all the resulting imagery becomes a great form of publicity and showcase for the game. You would have thought that EA would want these screen grabs to be as high quality at possible to show off their product, surely it would be damaging for their sales if someone came across a blog with someone's story and there was one of those brick squirrels in it complete with disparaging comments.
I personally really like the style of Sims 4 more than the other versions, and their expressions and gestures are great, but I'm more of a cartoony person anyway.
I do think they are going in the right direction in upping the quality though. The extra objects, hair and clothing in the Outdoor retreat pack seem to have a little more detail and care than the previous objects - like this floaty creature for example...

So hopefully, once all the major fixes are in place, something might be done to redress the quality of the old stuff.
Your sims in 4 definitely are great (referring to mr. Sausage and his clan) and not pudding because you have that talent to really make them cartoony. My problem is I don't want to play them that way but they can't please us all.
Granite Falls - although I only saw it on screens yet - seems to be more to my liking than the other two. So there's still hope."astridentanja;13373930" wrote:

Ok to be fair i'd like someone to bring up a sim from sims 3 from the base game without CC so then shall it be decided.

See? Your sims definitely don't look like mine nor like Blueasbutterfly's.
Exactly, I look around this thread and see some very nice sims 3 sims without cc. All are different styles and look different and I don't see pudding faces! Like you posted before people need to learn how to use the sliders. I find it much easier to make a decent sim in the sims 3 than in the sims 4. You actually have more facial options in the sims 3 than 4"astridentanja;13373665" wrote:

With that, one of my favorite sims is Mary-Sue from Sunlit Tides, she has such a unique face, in my opinion ^^

She is very pretty and looks nothing like the other sims posted. Proves the point that there is a lot more diversity in making sims look different in the sims 3 than in the sims 4. Sims 4 all look the same to me cc or not"phoebebebe13;13374017" wrote:

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. Most Sims in Sims 4 have a very generic face and end up looking like a copy with different hair unless the creator give them Asian eyes or a flat nose, they are hard for me to tell apart."06Bon06;13374020" wrote:

I have really tried so hard to like TS4 but I can't for a number of reasons. I find it so much harder to make a good sims in CAS with the sims 4. I have no cc its a new install. As far as changing faical features, sims 3 has so many more options than the sims 4. The only issue I have with teh sims 3 CAS is EA's blond texture. Its flat and very yellow and unnatural compared to other hair colors so all my blonds have CC hair LOL I think the fake yellow texture looks better on the sims 4 sims. Goes with the cartoon look- Cyron4311 years agoNew Ace

How about that?

But somehow I have the feeling you say she's ugly. I have been through that before and whenever a Sims 4 fan said "show me a pretty Sims 3 Sim" the reaction was negative. They don't say that to be convinced, they say it because they are totally biased and smell another opportunity to talk down on others. So much for fairness but it's up to you to surprise me. Before I started using the sliders, I always uses the same face shape, the same lips, and the same eye shape. All my sims looked exactly the same and couldnt figure out why. This was also before I knew CC existed so i reused the same few hairs all the time which didnt help cause i would get confused cause 10 other townies would have the same hair. Now that I use the sliders and random sim button i get unique looking sims all the time.
and heres my other female sim
They look nothing alike..all thanks to the sliders
