I decided to give more of these features a good once-over, and I noticed that there are way too many downsides to a small business.
- You can only host paid classes on a small business you own, while it's open. I wanted to teach paid classes on a school lot I made, or at a community center. But no, you have to follow this strict limitation. Spa Day had it right, where you had much more freedom when teaching lessons.
- People rarely sit down for classes. Setting up desks and seats helps, but people just leave in the middle of lessons to wander around and talk to each other. I guess classes with required items will have better retention, but this shouldn't be an issue with any class.
- Autonomy tuning in general is bad.
- The dreamer alignments are mostly useless. I know, nice guys finish last. But it feels very imbalanced toward schemers. The Dine Out/Get to Work perk system was better, imo.
- Tips feel too infrequent and too little to matter, even when you fully invest in it.
- You can't use the residential rental system to split up lots and make multiple businesses. Which is annoying because a lot of lots are too big for my small businesses.
- I wish you could set up small businesses and what to do on them naturally, without having to buy the lot and own the sim. I wanted to make community center with a lot of things to do.
- I can't have my business run without me being there. I get it'd be harder to do than restaurants and retail, but it basically forces you to play all the time to make a profit. Whereas with a restaurant, you can work hard and eventually make your restaurant so good, it turns into passive profit.
- EDIT: Apparently you can't even have a date on small business lots. At this point I might as well just get mods to own and run a business, because it looks like LittleMsSam already did small businesses better, years ago.
- Further Edit: Nectar pricing is glitched, and you can't have club gatherings at small businesses.
