Ah, I see. That I can understand more. The whole trying to get into some sort of relationship with them, however does strike me as having a possible line they are trying to make sure isn't crossed. Just being able to talk, be friends and the like, though... if you cannot do that with Trashley, that is weird.
It bothers me when special NPC who can do nothing, it's a kind of social object like Lin-Z or Talking toilet.
Rod Humble NPC (TS2 EP7 FreeTime) is one of these anti-life simulation NPC (no social life).
Pottery is the new Fishing, I guess.
Err... it is possibly made that way due to the joke as to what Trashely Reelpearson really is... and since this is a T for Teen rated game...

Trashley Reelpearson doesn't make sense in a game where the sims can flirt with all special NPC from Agnes Crumplebottom to Grim Reaper.
The game is designed for romance so there is always a way to force Trashley to be romantic (NAP, lot trait, ... ).
A lot of work to remove all the features available in the game just for one single character (temporary stay over, roommate, science baby, voodoo doll, ...).
Is it just me, or does it look like all sims will end up with Pottery skills, intended by simmer or not? So many of my sims do play with that lump of clay, which now gives Pottery skill. Problem is that sims do this regardless of their aspiration/traits, and also non played sims do this. It seems totally random game design. I'm not impressed with this. No N.A.P. is yet set in my Nordhaven, so this is not affeced by N.A.P.s. I wish the game would leave it to me to decide who shal learn Pottery... my Duchess is definitely not interested, but I now think she might master the skill before I can say pot. It is not as fun to play the game when all sims do and learn the same thing...
