Sims sales make me regret day 1 buys...but why not just make them cheaper anyway?

It's really hard for me to buy any of TS4 packs at full price. The ones I do have were either gifted to me or I got on sale. What's funny is that I actually really want almost all of the Stuff Packs, but I don't want to pay for them at full price. However, if they all went on sale, I would actually pull the trigger on all of them at once. Now, without the sales, I don't buy any of them...

But you know, all of the people who buy the packs at full price, despite the many sales offered to them at later dates, keep EA from starting at a lower price, I guess.

I never buy games at full retail price anymore. There’s a high degree of buyer’s remorse in that price range, and it’s too much of a gamble that it won’t go on sale two weeks later.

Idk I mean sales are just there to make people buy stuff because its cheaper for a while
I don't think they'd permanently change the prices
at least as long as ts4 is releasing new contents

what I find curious is the big sales on eps and very small sales on stuff and game packs
deal would be much sweeter if one got 50% on gps or sps like man that'd be a spending party

you'd get like 4 gps for one ep or 8 stuff packs like holy cowplant

with eps its just sort of like ''so it degraded to gp price I see''

Probably the same reason Kohl's has a near permanent sale going on for all of their items; people like feeling like they're getting a deal.

I waited and got DU 1/2 price because the content doesn't interest me enough to pay full price. OTOH, I just paid full price for TL because that content does!

I agree though, in Canada it's better to wait for their sales and I am going to do that from now on for EPs and GPs. SPs don't go on sale very often. Not as often as EPs and GPS, and they are usually 1/2 price within a couple months of release. I can wait.

I say that now, but if they put out a cruise holiday or a casino GP, I'd buy those up in a hot minute at full price! :D

Exactly this. The fact that so many people aren't willing to wait just a few weeks until the latest game is on sale at half price, means that EA still rakes it in on release day.

The only game in this series I've bought for full price on release day was base game, and my god did I regret that at the time. With the sims it seems it's always better to wait - either it will be reduced in a few weeks or there will be fixes and/or additions.

While I'm surprised that they've already put University on sale at 50% off I don't personally feel very slighted that I paid full price. I opted to do so, and I was granted access to the newest content earlier than those who wait for the sales.

In addition, I like the Sims 4/the Sims franchise in general. So long as it's a profitable venture for them they'll continue to make content. It's not the worst thing in the world that they're making a killing on each of these packs so long as they deliver a product that's commensurate with what we're paying, imo. It'll keep the Sims 4 around, and someday it'll ensure a Sims 5 comes along.

At this point I just wait for sales there never to long after release at least with expansions I got University half off less than 2 weeks after release seeing as I was in no rush only cared for the bikes it was no issue. But really at this point besides Generations I cant imagine paying full price for a expansion that feels half complete and that has been all of them besides Get Together.

Same here - if it's a pack I want, I want it now, not when it goes on sale.

If they sold it at, say, $20 from the outset, with no chance of a sale later, they'd sell fewer units and definitely make less money. (And they do need to cover their cost and produce a profit for their shareholders, who invested their money in the company.) Some people won't buy unless they feel like they're getting a deal. And, if I'm only interested in part of a pack, it makes more sense to wait until it's on sale - that way, I'm literally paying for what I get - full price for the pack I want for game play and BB-CAS, half price if I only want the BB-CAS. The dollar amount is less important than feeling like I paid the right price.

Because they can take a lot of money from people who buy day one at full price. My advice: if you really really want a pack and to play it immediately, then buy on release. If you can wait, then do so. EA knows they have a large crowd of day one buyers who are willing to pay the full price, and they know they can take in the rest by putting it half price fairly early on. I guess it's a question of how much you want it on that particular day. Me, I've bought certain packs like Seasons and JA on release and don't regret it because I had fun. More recently, I waited for sales for Strangerville and Island Living because I didn't feel I'd get the most value out of them immediately.

The only thing I don't get is why stuff packs don't go 50% off more often, because I would never have bought Movie Hangout if it hadn't. SPs generally don't interest me at £9.99, but £4.99 can sway it.
