So unlike in previous iterations, I have been sticking to only a few saves for TS4. The thing is, after a while these save files get bigger and bigger, and, in some cases, pretty corrupted. Now, how many of you choose to stick to only one or a few save files to continue to play over the years? If you do, do you have any tips how to "cleanse" these files every once in a while? I recently started a new save files after almost a year of playing the same save exclusively, and I was shocked by how fast the loading screens were in this new save... and only then realized just how out of hand my main save has gotten. :sweat_smile:

It's happened twice when I would start a new save to do some kind of challenge, I would completely lose my original save, as if the new save would override the old one. I have no explanation for why that happened TWICE! So I do get nervous starting a new save even though I have learned to save the files now.

Save files even in previous games always seem to bloat after some time of the same file, so I always end up making a new one eventually. Any sims that's been progressing through their generations and what not I always save to my library so I can place them in a new save. I have two files, a rotational & a single sim. I always use "save as" when saving, it creates a fresh file & seems to cut down on the risk of file corruption. I'm actually in the process of consolidating sims from about 4 saves, I do like having them all in one place & watching their lives intermingle, but at the same time my worlds are starting to get overcrowded.

I have the same save since 2014, and it's fine. I did copy my save to a new PC, and it did act strangely once it updated. However, on my Laptop (which I'm using again as my primary PC) is still working fine.

I only have one save; and I'm never going to do more than one because all I ever read are issues of multiple saves messing up people's games.

I usually keep multiple saves but when I had one save for a family constantly it had issues where as other saves with and without the same custom contents were totally fine. I saved a few and put them in a new save for six generations that way.

Actually hitting "save as" is the same save and is better choice over that. This way you have multiple versions of the same exact save. I have had the same save since September 2014 and not a single corruption since I do both "Save" and "Save As" I also back of my folders every now and then elsewhere.

Multiple saves have never messed up my game. Like I just said above I've had multiple saves (and I have at least 20) of the same exact save file by using "Save as" I get so attached to my sims so I make sure I'll never lose them!

I tend to have multiple saves of the same family as backups in case something goes awry. I'd not heard about game corruption or multiple saves causing problems, so will be keeping an eye on that now. Thanks for the info! :smile: Any extra tips for preventing corruption?
