Still disappointed?

While I've thoroughly enjoyed all the additional packs added to TS4, and i've loved all the things that said packs have added (weather, pets, magic, etc.), I'm still feeling an overall disappointment with TS4? Like, idk, although the "traits" were a huge selling point of TS4 and the promise that our sims would feel like true individuals, i still feel like that has never actually come to fruition? Not like they had in TS3 or TS2, you know? It just feels like any sim can just complete any aspirations regardless of whether it should realistically conflict with their traits (i.e. a commitment-phobe who has the large family aspiration). It feels kind of flimsy in that if I made a sim like that, the actual conflict of having an aspiration conflicting with one of their traits doesn't really happen? You could easily have your sim do that and it wouldn't bother them at all and i think that's pretty lame. Idk i just think older iterations of the sims had my sims feel more like unique individuals and despite it being the main selling point for TS4 it just never actually happened and instead we just keep getting "stuff" and "things" for our sims to do thrown at us in the game with no real depth for the sims themselves and i'm just endlessly disappointed by it honestly. Anyone else?

Our culture needs some serious growing up! Or maybe time in the army... A game (or anything else) that focuses on offending no one will wind up offending everyone. Time to get back to fundamentals, make a game that appeals to the broad spectrum of regular people, and move on past the whinery.

    Who are the "regular people"?
  • I have no problem having a ball in all 4 of the Sims games - so I really don't get the problem. I treat each one like it is the different game it is and not like it is connected to the other three - so maybe that is why I enjoy all 4 better. Granted there are things i do like being in all 4 - like it still irks me Sims 1 is missing life stages so i really never play that one any more - but the other 3 are fun to me.
  • Yes i am still dissappointed

Why is every Sim attracted to the same objects.
I dont want my lazy Sim dancing all the time, when i dont control him.
I want him to autonomsly take a nap, cause hes lazy. I want him to wish to watch TV for 8h straight, because he is a couch potato and lazy.

Also the Fun bar doesnt fill up for my gardener Sim who loves the outdoor or for my book lover sim who is just writing a book.

I want life goals that are achieving, a milestone for my sim and tight to his personality, instead of a hand holding guidance.

I want Sims that love certain things but also dislike stuff, based on the traits.

I would love if Sims have a fear emotion and would wake up from a bad dream and be scared or sad about.

Instead... They swipt the dirt under the carpet, by simply not adding wishes since strangerville, for ... why exactly?

And why do they never answer questions and Feedback about wanting Sims with personalities and just do... diverse content and be so so inclusive (which is fine too because we want to identify with our game, but not just by the looks and styles.. Most of the Time we want every Day things. Normal things in life, such as wants and fears, attraction system etc.
They just missed the mark, because the game is just ... style over substance. They give you so much LGBTQ+ diverse stuff, but yet you can not set the gender prefrence for your sim and actually play with it.

I dont see them adding more to the sims and personalities at all... And that means setting my own destrictions and look up what the sims3 did with the traits and implement it (as good as possible) in my own game.
Like family oriented Sims would actually love doing laundry in the sims3 among other stuff, but in the sims4 you just have to set it up, how sad.

  • I was very disappointed in TS4 for a long time. It launched without toddlers and it just seemed very lacking. That got it off to a very bad start for me and I didn't touch it again for years after it released. I came back to it when seasons released because weather was always one of my favourite things to be added in previous iterations of the Sims games and I was not disappointed. The game feels completely different from when it launched and I'm enjoying it a lot now. It has many faults. That I won't deny. I have an ever growing mod folder that exists just to flesh out all of the bad design choices and bugs that never seem to get fixed but other than I find it enjoyable and I play for a few hours each day.
  • I cant get pass 10 minutes mark playing the sims 4 these past few weeks, now i havent touched the game at all for 5 days already.
