Story Progression?

I've only just played a Sims 4 save long enough for my sim to go to university and have kids, because I usually stick to Sims 3. Only thing is, there's no other children in my game for them to meet! From what I understand it is because there is no story progression feature. Isn't that a bit ridiculous?

If I were to create my own families, would they get jobs without me having to play them? Also, the max limit of Sims in my town is 80 because I'm playing on a Mac and don't want to overdo it, if I add families how is that number controlled? I do love the graphics of the Sims 4 and the added features, but I'm not sure it gained more than it lost.

There's no real story progression in 4, NPCs basically just walk around town then grow old & die and new ones generate. There is a story progression mod out there, I think it's MCCC, you might check the mod section of these forums, they can help you out of you want it. The max limit is your played or liked households, but I think it does affect the number my NPCs your game generates.

I tried going back to Sims 3 for a while & still have an active save right now, but I couldn't get the Nraas mods to work & to me it's just not the same without them.
  • I don't use mods but I always find that if my sim kids go to a park, other kids always come by. When the townies start getting old I just take families from the gallery and put them in my game.
I did try MCCC once but didn't like the results. The game generates some pretty 'interesting' looking sims and when they start having kids together the result isn't always good. Which is why I download some pretty ones from the gallery :D
