StrangerVille best thing for Stranger Things Fans.

Very much a Stranger Things correlation. The xmas lights, the red head, the army peeps,, the men in black, even the plant thing. The coughing at the sink..anyone that has watched Stranger Things knows that scene. Text messages instead of walkie talkies. The cloud at the end of the trailer. Do not want to say more because I do not want to spoil the show nor the GP.

I love Stranger Things, one of the best shows I've seen for a while. And I can certainly see the references to it from the new pack trailer.

But I don't think anyone needs to have seen the show to enjoy the pack. I don't see why anyone should feel alienated. There is so much on TV, in movies and books that has a similar theme and similarities to it.

I guess it's a shame for people who don't like that kind of thing, but you can't suit everyone all the time. I'm not really into vampires but I still got the pack cos there is quite a lot of build buy stuff I have enjoyed using. But there will always be stuff come along that some people will not like.

Me too <3 It takes me right back to my childhood and watching The Goonies. The child actors in Stranger Things are just fantastic. I'm looking forward to spotting all the pop culture references that EA loves to scatter throughout the various Sims content (I've even forgiven them for the sparkly vampires in TS3 :p ).

They found gold when they cast those children together.

I tried to like stranger things the show, but it focused from the perspective of children too much for my taste. Couldn't get into it.

I understand that very much. It took me forever to sit down and watch it for that very reason. I am a 55 year old woman that enjoys a good story. I did not think I would enjoy the show. I am so glad I stuck with it as is it now one of my favorite shows.

Not trying to say you have to watch it or anything. Just trying to let you know I had that same thought when it first came out. It worked out great for me. I hope you can find a weird strange show that you enjoy. Either way, have fun with the pack if you buy it. : )

Yes, which is a pity because it alienates players who have never seen the show or have no interest in it.

Or motivates them to watch it. I have Netflix, never thought of watching it but now it's on my list of shows to watch.

You're not going to be alienated.

The similarities between the pack and the show are either generic sci-fi things (hazmat suits, government intervention, conspiracies, etc) or something you'd have to squint at to notice. The show and the pack just loosely share a theme. That's it.

The "Mother", or whatever Strangerville's mystery is, doesn't look like it has any substantial similarities to the Stranger Things' mystery. Fans of the show might get a kick out of making the Stranger Things kids solve the mystery, though.
  • I plan on watching it eventually also, eventually.... I also see lots of movies and themes in this pack and we haven't even gotten into it. I'm older so for me I'm seeing (lightly) stuff like Little Shop of Horrors, Starship Troopers, The X-Files, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Welcome to NightVale... and many, many others.. It's Sci-Fi and subsets within that.. Maybe if I watch the show I'll see more links and since it's timely I wouldn't be surprised.

Any pack is gonna alienate one group of people or another. It could've been a pack about babies and then it'd be alienating people that don't like babies. I haven't seen Stranger Things because I haven't got the time for television these days, but to me the theme comes across as generic enough that people who have no idea what it's about could still get the idea.

Definitely. The naming of the pack/town aside, there were so many scenes which matched the Season 2 trailer which really showed how inspired by Stranger Things this pack is.

That top suit looks a bit inadequate to me judging from what our policemen looked like in theirs during the Novichok poisoning episode in Salisbury UK. EA/Maxis' one for Strangerville is more like it. I suppose it was artist's licence so that we knew one actor from another! >:)
