High school marks do matter a bit for careers -- if you're an A student you start your job at level 3, if you're a B student then level 2. And for children, aging up to Teen with an A grade means starting high school at a B grade. So there is a bit of an advantage.
Not sure what the plans are for an eventual University EP, but it could have features to enhance the education experience.
