- alan650New SpectatorI am checking back into this thread to report that I successfully mated cats on the first try!
- Okay so after doing some testing, I had decided to place a male dog in the household that had female dogs.aaaannd...

- My cat had a kitten once. Never again. I keep trying and trying. Also, certain interactions no longer show up ---- become companion is one of them. It did work before. They can't do the Cat aspiration anymore because of this.
- Not sure if this helps, but I had issues getting my animals to breed with one another after merging two households, as well as when I tried making them breed with strays. I downloaded the controllable pets mod just to see if there was anything I could do from the animal's pov. With both situations the animals I was trying to breed together didn't know each other. I did the "introduction" interaction with the mod and suddenly they weren't rejecting when I would encourage them to breed. I had tried the "be nice to" interaction, thinking a lack of a relationship was the problem, but they apparently still didn't know each other despite living with each other.
TLDR; If your pets are ignoring your encouragements to breed, download the playable pets mod and introduce them to each other. - > @judeareenn said:

How much later? And didn't you get a notification saying she was pregnant? - Waking up an old thread just to nutshell some of these things. Recently I've been playing a family with a female dog and I've wanted her to have a puppy by another family's dog, so every time she was in heat, we visited them and encouraged her to mate with that dog, and although mating definitely happened, no pregnancies. This was easily ten times.
Then I moved the girl dog into the boy dog's household temporarily and found out that if she's not in heat, no matter how much she mates, she won't get pregnant. But once she was, it took just two attempts for her to get pregnant, after which I could move her back to her own household to have the puppy.
Nutshell: the dog has to be in heat (aka howling hearts all around) before pregnancy is possible, no point in trying to encourage them to mate before that. They'll do it, but there's no puppies. It's like woohoo vs. try for baby. The dogs also have to be in the same household, but it's perfectly possible to send one dog to another household for a brief visit, then bring the dog back, all through the Manage Household function.
Wanted to share this late revelation, since I'm sure there's others who want to have puplets without having both parent doggies in the household.

Bonus picture of the result puplet with exhausted mom sleeping in the background. - I just kept breeding mine until it worked! It helps to be friendly with them of course! Maybe there's certain traits that help? I'm not too sure however as you can't see their friendliness towards each other, which would be helpful XD
Though I found it fairly easy and could get it done in under a sim day :D - alan650New Spectator

Yes my aging is on. Do you know how long it takes until their pregnancy shows after mating? - There's at least one mod reported to be interfering: Enable Advanced Debug/Cheat Interactions
