Tell me about Vacations

I honestly enjoy OR. It's best for collection and exploration though. And it added the herbalism skill. Which tends to be useful in the second Vacation pack, Jungle Adventures.

But to be honest, JA is a very beautiful world, but the exploration aspect of it is tedious and boring compared to WA. I absolutely HATE the archaeology skill. It takes way too long to crack open a find. I gave up on it after exploring a couple of temples. Not worth it aside from the stunning beauty of the world and the BB assets.

If I play sims 3 it is for WA alone. And I do have a current save where my sim is working through the tombs since I never completed it.

Sims 4 vacations? No. There's nothing to do unless you are collecting for herbalism or exploring the jungle.

In GF, I added a spa and outdoor pool for the campers.

I have both Outdoor retreat and Jungle Adventure, but Jungle Adventure is primarily where I send my sims to vacation.

I'm not a fan of camping, not really a fan of hiking, and while the views are lovely, fishing isn't my thing either. So I find Outdoor retreat to be a bit ... dull. Because it's just a campground. A pretty campground, but just a campground.

Selvadorada/Jungle adventure on the other hand, has a culture your sim can actually learn, including new dance moves, museums with "history" and if you read the descriptions of the Omsican items in Jungle adventure, there's actually a fair amount of work that went in to developing that history and culture. And there's the jungle to explore with the temples and archeological excavations.

Admittedly, Selvadorada also plays to my personal interests, as I love learning about cultures and history, and the fine art of digging a six foot trench with a teaspoon and a paintbrush that is Archeology.

That and a high Archeology score can get you a decent income of simoleans on its own thanks to the museum sending you artifacts to identify.

@Chazzzy I don't really expect more than breaking up the monotony, which is what I like festivals for. Feel free to tell me more, it might save me some money!

i dont vacation often in sims. but when i do i like jungle adventure much more. not only can you explore the jungle which is a nod to world advantures i think. but theres a new culture skill and a market and a bar to mingle at. so sometimes it can be fun to bring families to hang out. or to me is pretty dull. i like the camping but the world isnt that exciting, im not into the skill there, and i get bored pretty fast there. the cabins are nice but theres not much to do. so id pick jungle adventure.

Jungle Adventure is my second favorite game pack. I love the world, the exploring, the culture, and the treasure hunting. It's not as detailed as World Adventure (my favorite TS3 EP) but for what it is, I always have a good time when I go there. As an added positive, the BB in this pack is amazing and I use it in all sorts of builds.

Outdoor Retreat is a little more laid back with less to do overall, but it is a beautiful world and I like to bring my sim families there once in awhile for family fishing trips. I also personally have a good time searching for bugs and herbs for my sims to go collect, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. Seasons has complicated this destination for me as it seems to constantly thunderstorm here in the summer and the herbs only grow at certain times now.

So there are only two vacation worlds? For some reason I thought there were more.

Really, part of my interest in Outdoor Retreat was the coolers/off-grid type stuff, but we can live off-grid now if we feel like it. Do National Parks only work with OR? The lot type is available without it, but doesn't seem to do anything.

It sounds like vacation worlds don't add much more than festivals do. A quick thing to visit? You can't have vacation homes, right? And there aren't many lots?

I love vacation worlds! My sims stay there long term by extending the vacations over And over haha! The jungle one is my Fav as I love the culture, archeology etc.

I'm not into supernatural but if you are you can create totems and use them to bless or curse other sims with a variety of diff ways.

Overall a super fun pack

When Sims are on vacation, are they excused from work? Does it cost money? If you extend your vacation do you still have to leave for the office every day? I just keep finding more questions to ask.

They take vacation time off from work and get paid. You choose how many days you want your Sims to be on vacation. If you extend the vacation time, they don't have to go into work first. You'll be asked when the vacation is nearing the end if you want to extend.

Yes it costs money per night, the amount depending on the lot you stay at. and no your sim won't go to work
