I agree with that for that was Wright's vision in the beginning. :) EA/Maxis is trying to please many folks that have different visions of what the game is supposed to be and sometimes it does not work very well.
Except you can not have fun.If everything is easy, and handed to you.It was not my point.
It was my point and I was referring to someone else's point, of course some games are not fun if there is no challenge. You may feel the Sims is not an game if players are creating stories but it still is an game even if the player is using sims to act out their stories, it is fun and I been playing Sims since day one and I also play other games. Not everybody play the game the same way like I do not use mods in my games so if someone does that make it less of an game?
I think you misunderstand .I love the sims series .I have no problem with people making stories. My problem is that 4 is lacking because they made it less like a game, and focus more on appearance.
I can agree with you on this as I feel the same. :) When I was bored I enjoyed opening Sims up and play but I do not get that joy when I play Sims 4 as it lacks the tools that was present in older versions but now are gone. The creativity level is there but it is much less. The way I see it and it is my opinion EA/Maxis is holding the reins on how creative we can get by throttling the features. But as usual some are willing to accept this and that is okay for luckily Sims 3 is still playable as well as Sims 2(Sims 2 to an certain extent). - OldeSimsFanNew TravelerWon't say TS4 is dull, but studying Old English is more fun, and I'm having trouble with it.

Are... you... implying studying Old English isn't fun?
Last guy who said that got thrown into a pit of snakes by King Ælla of Northumbria!
Fun fact about Old English, most English swear words are pretty much just normal OE words for bodily functions that the invading Normans tried to discourage.
There's a lot more to it than what I'm covering here, but it's more or less why words derived from French (the language of the Norman aristocracy) and Latin (the language of the church) are offered as "polite" versions of "rude" English words starting with F or SH, which are very Germanic sounds (of which English is a Germanic language, as opposed to French, which is a Romance language)
It's also why you don't eat "cow" (a hard K sound, another Germanic staple), you eat "beef".
You don't eat "sheep", you eat "mutton".
It's not "pig", it's "pork".
It's classist is what it is, it's discriminatory against peasants!- I agree with that but since this game sell I don't see it ever changing.
- Just because something is a parody and is supposed to be fun doesn’t mean it can’t be challenging and engaging like other games are.
The issue with TS4, in my eyes, is that it’s not trying to offer a complex simulation, where you input something and expect any number of potential outcomes. In TS4, it very much is what you do is what you get with little pushback. Nearly every action leads to the same thing whether it’s the success/failure of the action, or the varied moodlet/Emotion that comes with it. And that’s why it’s feels like a dollhouse game rather than a life simulation.
If you think about a game like Planet Zoo or Cities: Skylines, zoo simulation and city building simulation, respectively, everything you do in the game has a ripple effect that will then alter how you move forward in the game after that one action. And part of the challenge is how to balance all of the varied aspects that all need attention while you’re juggling resources or other random things that can hinder you. TS4 is more in line with Animal Crossing but on a larger scale.
Complex doesn’t mean it has to be real life. It just means it has to be complex gameplay within the systems in the game. TS1 and TS2 I think are closer to complex because of the difficulty of maintaining needs in TS1, and the Fears system in TS2. These things counteract all of the things the players do without forcing the player to make them so. In TS4, the needs are easier to maintain, and the biggest negative impact that can be experienced is a negative Emotion which often can get usurped by positive ones. The balance is all off in this game because the systems aren’t really working against the player.
And because the balance is off, the game is less complex (which I’m sure many TS4 players love), but some don’t. "Horrorgirl6;d-989835" wrote:
I think the problem with the game. Is that the team forgot that is supposed to be a game. Take the spark show and how it was broken up. Storyteller, Builder, and Create a Sim.Every time they mention live mode they mention storyteller. The sims game is not meant to be a story editor. It is supposed to be a game.
Could you please expand on what you mean? What elements of the game state are missing in your opinion?- FriendlySimmersNew Travelersorry but i have to disagree with what is said in this thread the game should have more positive and less negative the sims4 might be a game but its ment to have fun and escape real life everyday worrys and concern and just have fun
- Yes, I agree with you. The NAPs are the most annoying for me, because they cause NPC's to act inappropriately. Like going into a stranger's house and then making cakes! Surprising, yes, but not very realistic. Or people stealing your grown produce from the garden? How is that fun? I'll admit it might be a challenge, so maybe I'm being hypocritical.
- OldeSimsFanNew TravelerIt's that OE (more accurately the Saxon dialect spoken by the invaders) is a foreign language, and I have always had trouble with those. That this is a 10 week course focused on the literature (Beowulf is coming) doesn't help. Interesting, but i need more absorption time. My paternal ancestors are from Northumbria, so maybe this will help with family connections. Interesting, your post.
