They're adding werewolves and farming. The calendar is needed for the lunar cycle.
I can hope!
Yaassss!
Or finally a decent timetable system for university students/ high school students???- DaWaterRatSeasoned AdventurerIs it possible that the Production builds might have just the relevant Systems from a given pack installed while cross pack compatibility is being tested? I mean, if they're working on adding something like Zodiacs or School Breaks into the game, they don't need the full Seasons pack installed, just the calendar to make sure that they appear there appropriately. (Moon Phases I'd assume they'd also want the weather to see how the moon's changes worked with different cloud covers.)
Personally, I'm in the "fine by me" category when it comes to moving systems from the expansions to the base game when needed for a new pack. Especially since their other options are to include the system with the new pack, which will result in people complaining about paying for the same thing twice, or DLC for DLC which will go over like a lead balloon. They can't win. And at least with making things base game, they can avoid accusations of cash grab.
But it also strikes me that we may be making a big deal out of nothing if it's just a quirk of the production build. - > @Zeldaboy180 said:

Exactly. I can't believe people are seriously in an uproar about this. They're going to be foaming at the mouth when they find out the base game has gone on sale multiple times for free, and that there are -gasp- many people who pirate the DLC regularly and with ease. "rudy8292;c-17845822" wrote:

Lol. What's the point of buying packs if they patch in all the selling points of EP's in for free anyway?
I just can't anymore with their plum practices.

EA, simultaneously the greediest company that charges too much, but also how dare they give away content for free that I bought 3 years ago.

It's not because of the calendar only. They did this with objects and hairstyles in the past too. It's the idea of them 'giving away' content people paid for. Not because it is ''just a calendar''... Where does it stop?
If this thing was supposed to be Base Game, they should have patched it in immediately for free for everyone, and not use it as a marketing feature for the Seasons EP itself imo.
Fine you don't mind, but I surely do.
Okay, but tell me how it affects you. This isn't something only the sims team does. Tons of games offer content for free that was once paid.
You paid for content 3 years ago. One tiny aspect of the game is being made free, and more than likely is just to view class and work schedules, which should've been base game to begin with.
So why do you care if one tiny thing becomes free for people 3 years later who may be too poor to afford it?
Game companies do this all the time.
I picked up the entirety of grand theft auto 5 completely free because of a promotion they did.
Every single expansion pack in world of warcraft is free except for the latest one Shadowlands. Once a new expansion is released shadowlands will become free."chickenow;c-17845821" wrote:

I always felt that the Calendar should be a base game feature, there's so many ways it can be expanded upon besides just creating Holidays and scheduling events.
I agree, already in my head I'm thinking they can regulate how often the San Myshuno/Mount Komorebi festivals take place rather than getting a random prompt.
Getting overly hopeful but maybe they could use the calendar to sort out the Sulani Festivals and actually add content to Island Living?
Maybe they'll tweak them a little so they don't fall on the same day? That'd be great!- DomainGoat90New Spectator

The fact that ''it doesn't affect me'' does not mean I (or anyone else) cannot have my own opinion on the matter.
It's not like it's going to change because I have the opinion that I have, just saying. - DaWaterRatSeasoned AdventurerThe primary advantage of the Calendar is when playing in multi-sim households. As it is now, the calendar tells you all the household sims who have work/school scheduled for the day, so you can more easily see what days are open for doing things. And as it shows all the sims schedules together, you can also figure out what times everyone will be home quicker.
It is also easier to see how close together birthdays are. I sometimes age sims up together if their birthdays are going to be within a few days of each other.
Yes, you can figure all this out by looking at each sim, but seeing it all together is certainly quicker.
So if they are indeed bringing the calendar into the base game, I'm guessing it's for something that could affect multiple sims within a household - such as school holidays. - I thought it did that sun ray effect in every new save, am I wrong? What about this indicates it’s going to be part of base game?
- Karamazov123Seasoned AdventurerI can understand why people would be annoyed at them taking a pack feature and moving it into the base game. It's totally fair to feel ripped off, so matter how long it's been since it was released. EPs are expensive and if you'd known such and such feature would be free later on, it could have affected your decision to purchase.
That said, I'm fine with the calendar possibly coming to the base game. It wasn't a big draw of Seasons, it was mostly there to facilitate the bigger features, which I actually cared about. It's also not doing all that much in Seasons, whereas putting it in the base game will let them expand on the feature way more. Plus if they get rid of the City Living and Snowy Escape pop-ups and just put them on the calendar, that would be hella. - YBNSNew Spectator

I think that if they're adding the calendar to the base game it means that it will be needed in the next pack. I have no idea how but i'm really curious...
About it being part of seasons and probably being given now in a patch, i'm not upset. I bought seasons for the weather itself.
Maybe they needed it for the music EP... bands/ singers needs a calendar so they can schedule their gigs!?
