The Sim Story Thing

I've never tried a Sim I created with the Sim the story thing (sorry forgot what it was called). But I did yesterday because I felt like I wanted a change. Well I have tried it but I just didn't like the stuff I got with the Sims so I always ended up creating my own Sim. The new Sim I created I felt like was too boring so I needed something different. I had to do it twice because the options I didn't like for the first one, lol. But so far it's kind of cool because I feel like it gives me things I wouldn't normally choose for a Sim. Has anybody tried this option yet for their Sims?

  • Yes, but none of them made it to game. I basically recreated the sim every time. I like the idea that they start with a job and different funds but I wish we had more control over it rather than a pop quiz which will drastically change the outcome dependant on the questions you answer.
  • Like a lot of quiz-based character creation systems, it's surprisingly easy to game the "Sim Story" feature once you understand which questions and answers lead to what outcomes. I often re-roll questions to get ones I specifically want and avoid ones I don't. For instance, there are certain questions that will give you an occult if you answer them just right, some that will lead to certain jobs, some that will affect your starting money...I probably tinkered way too long with that thing looking for how to manipulate it to get satisfying outcomes. Though, some might argue it's like rolling your character stats in D&D with loaded dice...
  • It’s good but not exactly great, I remember James Turner tried it out and he answered a question that asked about pets with he doesn’t like pets(I don’t remember wat the answer was) but he still got a cat lover trait, felt extremely forced. I only use it when I’m too lazy to choose the trait and just use whatever sim they give me
  • I like the concept of the feature but I'd like more questions added. I feel like all of the traits and aspirations aren't fully represented at it's present state.

Something I discovered with it however is it makes making townies a lot easier. What I usually do with it is only pick the first option for one sim, the second for another, and so on. I don't shuffle the questions. It makes for some random outcomes but it's still pretty predictable.
