The Sims 4.5 - What would you like to see? (Interview with Graham)

https://www.gamesradar.com/simgurugraham-on-the-future-of-the-sims-4-theres-way-more-that-we-can-still-do-with-this-title/

In this article from yesterday, SimguruGraham gives a little sneak peak into the future of TS4. He basically says that the team strives to give players the depth they want in the game, but with an unexpected twist (i.e. sentiments and lifestyles). He also says that this iteration isn't done yet and that there's more content coming. Between the lines, it sounds like EA is hinting at a next phase for TS4.

"There's such a diverse range of topics and features that we could cover, the possibility space of what we can do within The Sims 4 is just humongous," Nardone tells me when I ask about the potential of a new game. "I think that just goes to show that there's way more that we can still do within this title, and our players are plenty hungry for more content that we can give in. That's a good problem to have."

The article literally calls it: "Less The Sims 5, more The Sims 4.5".

What do you think this game needs to be upgraded to a 4.5 version? What changes would you like to see?

Personally I think the game could rise to a 4.5 level if they would:

- Update all the original basegame hairs to be more detailed (see the last few packs for the improved hair quality)
- Optimize the game for newer PCs and work on the low framerate & graphics issues
- Spend even more time on fixing bugs
- Completely overhaul the emotions (their durance and impact on autonomy) and memory systems
- Replace all world maps with moving 3D map-views (no open world but 3d maps like TS2 had)
- Introduce a new main menu that is a bit more inviting

What do you think?

  • I feel like EA is giving up on the Sims franchise. Killing off Sim City felt unthinkable to me but as they watched players flood to Cities Skylines after the reboot spectacularly crashed and burned EA's answer was to just shelve Sim City permanently. I have this ominous feeling they are going to do the same thing for the Sims when Paralives comes out. Even if it doesn't though, I feel like The Sim's days are numbered. This is one of the oldest franchises in gaming history that is still live. It can't last forever and EA is a money making machine first, gaming company second. They go where the coin is.
  • What happened to CUSTOM CONTENT! Like it wont even let me enable it. I keep restarting it and it wont save it with my mods enabled. I'm not playing this game without mods...NOPE! :|
  • The only thing these updates do is continue to find new ways to break my game. I'm getting sick of the sims

Change it to a new game engine. The performance issue and lag bother me and make me not want to play. I can't even tell for sure how shallow the gameplay of the game is, since I can't even spend more than 1 hour on it before getting mad at the stutters. ?

You don't need all or most DLC for her to have fun and a laptop is fine.

Those specs aren’t going to be satisfactory. The integrated graphics will struggle even on the lowest settings, the processor is lacklustre (dual core and nearly 10 years old), and that hard drive is tiny.

No matter the budget or how good the deal is, you’re wasting your money on this computer.

I’d be starting with a GTX 1660 or an RX 580 for a GPU.

I totally agree with that statement and can attest to it being factual from first hand knowledge.

My dedicated graphics card died in December 2019 and while waiting for a new card to arrive I had to load up the game to finish some CC I was working on because I had a deadline to get it finished for a themed set. Even with 16GB of RAM, my game not only looked bad but it also stuttered a little, which I have never had lag in TS4 before, not once.

So, on-board graphics won't play this game very well, in my opinion.
