The Sims 4 and Windows S Mode?

When one gets a new Windows computer/ Labtop, are we supposed to buy Sims 4 AGAIN?

Got a new hp labtop with Windows 11 “Home in S Mode ”; Microsoft 365

And been trying to get Sims 4 on it… It’s like it expects me to buy Sims 4 ALL OVER again…
I figured since I have a EA account with it and multiple packs previously bought I could easily just get Sims 4 on it…

Thanks in advance…

  • Ok… Cause I really want to play Sims 4 again… Last time I picked it up AGAIN lol, I had bought a new game AGAIN and that time, in the case instead of a disk was a paper that gave a Web Site code to download the game…

I assume the new games still come with that and I SHOULD be able to bypass this error code this way?
Yes? No? (Not all rhetorical question)
  • I don't think buying it again will work. It's the app that's having the issue.

I had problems with the sims 4 and the sims medieval on my new desktop, windows 11. It came with Norton anti virus, if that in your computer get rid of it. I downloaded the EA app from EA's site and had problems getting either game to run in my computer and the EA app was installed but not installed. I think the Norton anti virus had something to do with that. The EA app wouldn't open the normal way, I had to open it from the control panel. (instead of uninstalling I double clicked to open it, the files were in my computer but the app was being weird.)

So I downloaded origin and ran it. I got the message that the EA app was the new game launcher and I let it install. That (origin) fixed the EA app and the sims 4 but not the sims medieval. I hope that makes sense and it fixes it for you.

    Thanks.
I don't have Norton, so one possibility I don't have to worry about lol.. Comes/ came with McFee that I could have installed as soon as getting rid of S Mode. Installing it just now, so it wasn't an issue.

That site you gave me... Installs WaveBrowser... Already got it and not really sure if it helps anything... But thanks anyhow.

Try clearing the cache on the App.

And btw thanks! I did see this comment but… The app wasn’t working for me before there could have been a cache to clear and… lol not electric’s savvy enough to know/ remember how to ?. I tend to have to do things repeatedly enough to remember or my brain just doesn’t retain the info for me…

You need to uninstall that WaveBrowser. I gave you that site to read all the things to try to get the EA app to work. It's not a good thing to install Windows stuff from non Microsoft sites, sorry I thought you knew that. You need to do a google search for VC Redistributables. Make sure that the only site you click on from that search says Microsoft and nothing except maybe download in front in the link. I couldn't find a download link from the EA help site.

I had McFree in the laptop I bought when my computer broke and I got rid of it. I had it many years ago and it caused problems with getting my games to work. I use Avast, usually there's no problem getting games to work with that.

The origin site I gave you only has origin to download.

I have to use google to search for the BSODs causes and no sound in DosBox in this new computer. So I have to not confuse my fixes for what's happening to my computer and I left out the very important advice not downloading Windows stuff from non Microsoft sites. I'm very sorry about not telling you to never download Windows stuff from non Microsoft sites.

    I have installed something called:

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022
Redistributable (X64) - 14.36.32532 OR (as it appears in my downloads) VC_redist.x64

Though seemingly hasn’t helped me get anywhere with getting Sims 4…. ?‍?
